Belle was pretty tracked out today. The lower & upper meadows were both pretty packed down. Never dropped down the burn, or went up big belle since I had my girl up on her first ride. Looked like there was a bit of untouched in those areas though. Looks like there will be a decent base now if some fresh comes down.
Talked to Hotrod this morning, all trails in excellent shape and about 4inches of new snow on his deck this morning and still snowing in town! First new snow since the weekend!
Renshaw will have some good snow left in the trees, but I'm sure if you go looking for it there will be some nice spots left. The main meadows were beat up pretty good by our group of 18 on Sunday lol. But if they get a foot or 2 it will be real nice up there.
Heading to McBride later this afternoon with a few friends. I'll update conditions tomorrow evening (wi-fi permitting). I've just checked the road conditions from Edmonton and they are partially covered with slippery sections to Jasper and fully covered once you get into B.C.
We just got home from 3 days in Renshaw. Apart from being damn cold for the first two days it was great!!! Snow was awesome (18+" in the trees), trail is perfect until you hit km 28, and minimal damage . Two of the group made it back to Spirit Lake on Monday, and we had 3 full days of untouched snow within an hour of the cabin. Kelven will post some photos/vids once he comes to grips with being owned on the mountain - Again...
Roads were not very good today. Real slippery around Hinton-Edson.
Went up renshaw today, had lots of fun found some really nice snow down in the trees, visibility wasn't the greatest in the morning but cleared up a little in afternoon trail was awesome till 28 marker than it is all whoop sections. Still really short of snow though, lots of rocks and stumps hidden under snow in areas, be careful. Also found some areas with very unstable snowpack conditions with about a 2 ft slab of snow sitting on top of just sugar snow. Be smart out there!! Braapp
Was up renshaw today, visibility was hit and miss, we went up through the ladder and dropped into the other side. Was nice snow to be found not a track over there but the ladder has tons of rocks, above and under the snow. Have to be super careful. Braappp! Also talked to groomer and he is going to try and do something with the last couple km of the trail.
Spent January 6 and 7 on Belle with great weather (~9°C at the bottom). There are a few powder spots in the meadows or really far back in the trees, but for the most part it's been pretty pounded out. Heading up the right side of big Belle on the main trail about half way up you can also find some fresh powder, but that's also in the trees. It's quite dry and grainy with no base and a couple more feet to cover the stumps better is still needed, but still well worth the trip.
From the Highway Cams it's getting a bunch as we speak! Anyways Hotrod mentioned Renshaw had gotten 1-2ft of new snow From Thursday till Yesterday and he was able to really clean up from 21km up to the Cabin. And the cool weather has kept the trails in excellent shape!
Use the weather station for temp and humidity. I have never seen an actual accurate snow depth on any weather station. They are very helpful and I have planned trips using them. The snow is skinny up high at Renshaw but there is more than 109 cm.
