texting is now the number 1 cause of road fatalities in north america ... so I read on the internet ...

I had previously heard it was the number 1 cause of road deaths in young people in usa ...

I don't doubt either ...

1 time I was driving my big rig and passed a obese woman who was eating a burger and texting, 1 in each hand at 100kph. on the 2way radio we were joking about running her off the road and when the cops come show the the half finished text and burger and say she caused it ...

calm down ... we were joking !!!

a good friend on mine lost his 19 year old son last year. He was a passenger in a 1/2 ton and the driver (his buddy) was texting crossed the centre line between Vernon and Kelowna and had a head on with a car. They too died in the crash but the driver who was texting survived. He has been charged with man slaughter. What a way to ruin so many lives for such a stupid thing as texting.

In my head

Good read, however his analysis in itself could be torn apart. More drivers, more cars, more accidents for sure. Cars safer, roads safer, maybe. One problem is how very difficult it is to prove an accident was caused by someone on a device. You need a verifiable witness, often whom are in the vehicle, often whom are dead. Driving is indeed your biggest risk for death or injury. People distracted by any means, more so by device use now a days, adds to the risk. Easy to look at numbers and say accidents are down, they may be, however those that are occurring "could" be highly impacted by distracted (device) use. Remove distracted driving accidents caused by device use and we may see a very different picture...in a good way. Distracted driving of any means is putting lives at risk, period! Head down, one handed (or no handed) driving while texting puts everyone at risk. We all know it!

LMFAO. Teaching kids how to drive is not an option!!! We should make the roads wider, put 17 airbags in every vehicle, and antilock brakes.Crumple zones are also important...WTF is a crumple zone??? I have an awesome way to avoid injury in an accident...

DON"T GET IN AN ACCIDENT!!!!!!

Crumple zones are areas designed to absorb the energy of a collision.... so you loose a couple less teeth when slamming your face on the steering wheel

OK thanks. I'm just gonna stick with my original plan and not get in an accident at all.
