As far as I know, all of Shercos stuff is manufactured in house. Much the same as Beta, GasGas etc of that nature.



On a separate note, not a purpose built snowbike IMO, just an adapted enduro bike.

I think what's meant by "purpose built snowbike" is the fact it comes with a ski and track and no wheels/swingarm.... this is as close as we've seen but there's room to improve. It will probably work well for 75% of guys who want to get out on snow and have no interest in a 450 dirt/enduro bike, Like me

Are snowbikes popular on the Ontario/east US trails yet? Have to sell units to make the juice worth the squeeze.

Far as I know this was one reason AC was working on getting it designated as a snowmobile, because many US states have regulations about only machines registered as snowmobiles are allowed on many trails. The Cataract creek area by Calgary is like that, you can’t ride a snowbike or track equipped quad on those trails.

Well thats up for debate.
Trail is designated for snow vechiles by the AB government.
The club and the ASA has taken the stance that they don't want anything other than a snowmobile out there.

But I digress.

Correct, and that is what it has to say on your registration. Not motorcycle or off road vehicle. Only thing in Alberta that gets Snow Vehicle designation is a snowmobile. You can try riding whatever you want out there, but if the fish cops are out checking you will get a ticket for anything other than a sled. The club just warns people of that. I guess more to the point, I don’t see why you would want to ride a snowbike there anyways, as I understand it, the least enjoyable thing you can do with one, is ride it on trails. And that’s is all you are allowed to do at Cataract unless you ride all the way to BC.

So has anyone looked closely at it? Is the Camso kit identical? Warranty? Heated grips? Demo, like the early cat releases?

I saw a bike a couple weeks ago in Valemont, it was home built with a 150 in plus track and a AC 800 engine. It was not under powered and was not slow, very impressive. I believe the guy was from Edson.

15k is what I was told. Had a good look. Simply put, Sherco 450 on a Camso dts 129 with an arctic cat brake lever and decals. Needs some add ons like all kits

Depends. IMO it just needs bark busters to get out and go. But it could use heated bars (electric or coolant), thermostat system, larger seat, larger pegs, stiffer fork springs, fork skins, gas can, cargo rack/bag, larger skid plate, engine blanket etc....

From what I was told, the fuel mapping / T-stat is for cold weather. Heated grips would be nice, along with larger pegs. Suspension is dependent on rider weight, and not everyone rides them at a pro level. Gas can, cargo rack / skid plate is owner preference, sleds don't come with them. But the NIVIS states that it is a snowmobile, and can be registered / insured as such. I think it will be a good performer, Sherco is a higher end bike, much like KTM, GasGas, TM and Husky. And the Camso kit is getting decent reviews, too.

Good to hear on fuel mapping and t stat sorry, I didn't see a bypass or anything special. I agree its a great start and a move forward. Your salesman had a bit more knowledge I'd say... mine said they made 50 and probably a 1 time thing...

probably run eectric grips stock and but Jerry can is a little more of a necessity with the small bike tank.
