Hopefully you all know what an A-hole Bill Blair is by now.

“Canada’s participation in Exercise STEADFAST DEFENDER sends a strong message about our ability to operate with NATO Allies and our continued contribution to the defence of Europe. Canada remains unwavering in its commitments to defend our shared values and interests, and to be a reliable partner in peace and security.”

The Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence

not at all defending the dems but as long as the US is the most powerful country and essentially keeps the planet’s shipping lanes open for commerce for all the ch!t we need to include snowmobiles, we’re gonna be involved in conflict. it’s incredibly naive to think otherwise no matter who’s (political party) in power.
can’t imagine the republicans being in office and not laying down plenty of hate hate on these groups.

I bet if you talked to Russians or Chinese people they would also claim to be the most powerful country in the world.

I would honestly say if something isn't done right away to right the ship they won't be carrying that title for long....

but they're not and no one seriously debates that. the russian navy for example, is a shell of it's former self and china doesn't have a blue water navy. the russian military has been gutted via the ukraine war and has revealed legendary levels of incompetence both from a tactics standpoint and doctrinally. no one can project power or has the overall capability that the US has although the margins aren't what they used to be.

nukes definitely account for shortcomings but i seriously question the state of their nuclear arsenal given their military performance and equipment situation in ukraine. if a conflict were to stay conventional then russia would would not defeat the US and especially now. i still give the upper hand to the US in a conventional conflict with russia and china and certainly if NATO got involved.
i don't know but the link doesn't seem to account for russia's current massive losses in men and material.
losses from just one day:

Back when trump was in there was a lot of talk about how Russia's nukes weren't maintained and many of the probably not active or able to fire anymore due to failing infrastructure. I think st this point chine would be the real threat.

yeah, i don't think the chinese would fumblefuck a military operation like the russians do but who knows, china is an authoritarian regime like russia and a large part of russia's piss poor performance on the battlefield is because of something called the authoritarian's dilemma which just means the leader only hears good news from subordinates lest they get unalived for delivering bad news instead of what's really going on.

One thing about being in wars the US is pretty good at it if the politicians allow them to fight untethered.

USA cant even stop a Hootie. What ever that is. It’s like a movie.
that's not a capability issue. it's a political one. if for some reason the houthis posed an existential threat then we wouldn't be having this conversation because the houthis would exist only in memory.

What do you mean by a blue water navy? China right now has the largest navy in the world with the most ships and most personnel. Although they are the largest they are not believed to be the most powerful as they only have 2 aircraft carriers but a good number of submarines and intermediate size ships.
