Looking to get out one more time. Does anyone know where some snow is left to get out for one for ride. Live in Calgary and dont want to drive all the way into BC and find out there is no more snow.

Looks like Elkford would be the closest to us.

Can you help me out with directions how to get to the parking lot? Unless someone else says there is snow closer will check it out next weekend.
THX!!

First of all, stop at the FasGas and purchase a trail pass ($10). I know the trail isn't groomed (but it will be next year) but our fuel account is low and every little bit helps.

The staging area changes as time marches on! This is not an area for trailers unless you can hand bomb them on a 14' wide roadway. Decks are in season my man....

5.5 km north of the 4-way stop on highway #43 there is a staging area on the right hand side. Don't use it. You want to turn left on the Crossing Creek trail. Put that diesel puller into 4 wheel drive and go to the snow line.

Yesterday we staged 400 meters up from the road and had very little dirt/rocks. Noticeably more late in the afternoon.

By the weekend you may have to drive this rocky winding narrow road for a few kilometers to get to the snow line.

Make it easy on yourself at the end of the day; when you park be sure to pull over to one side as far as possible as there will be sleds and/or quads wanting/needing to get past throughout the day. As a bearer of red-plates, be curtious to those who will use the trail behind you.

I know, that is quite a long winded explanation on how to get to the parking lot but there is a lot of important information here........

Thx for the info...

We will proabbly be the last in the area becasue of the drive lenght so will do what the romans do as far as parking. I do have a trailer and a tandem to boot, not going to be easy to swing around but will deal with it.

I don't anticipate a lot of traffic unless this thread generates some last minute dudes. With a tandem, I would strongly suggest you unload on the main road and ride the Crossing Creek trail with your sleds from there. You will not turn around further up and may not even get upover the rocks on the creek. We are talking about an exploration road that will accommodate a SnowCat at 14'6" wide that in many places it is scraping the trees. You will be fine as long as you want to ride some road and I won't know how much road until later in the week. I can report back closer to Friday for you.

Here are some pictures of various places on the trail. They are representative of the lower part.

I rode Quartz Saturday, parked at the main staging area. There was only a couple hundred feet of bare road/trail, and the trail was good all the way in!! lots of snow at the cabin but no fresh. Rode Gorman today, parked at second staging area (about klm 10/11), road was good, had no problem pulling a 24' enclosed trailer in. The snowmobile trail from there was very good and no bare patches that you couldn't get around. Again, there is lots of snow once you get in!! Had a great weekend!!!

I was in the upper blaeberry today and the trail in is a ch!t show of dodgy creek crossings. I parked way up the trail at the snow line and I call that area closed for the season. the upper mtn is good to go = isothermal. but don't take novices with you as they and you will be digging. I'll poke around quartz creek tomorra and will try to report back. but ...
as I sit here at 1200m it has been snow showers on and off for the last few hours, currently socked in and snowing. maybe snowboarding at lake lousy on fridy is the better option ... maybe ...
