This is all we need from this dictatorship of a government. Next thing "Nanny Notley" will be bringing in a law saying that kids can't ride a horse or ride in a vehicle. What a pile of BS

Oh it real, but nobody voted this stunned **** in.
Looks like all they are doing is following the same laws the rest of Canada has. Just means more supervision for under age riders as well as a few laws that should be common sense to most adults. If you look at the accident/death stats you will see they are on the rise... How many more people/children have to loose their lives over stupidity?

None of these protective laws were in place when I grew up and I can't remember any kid in my area losing there life when I was a kid .

When we were kids thinks were much different. Their was no ware near the amount of off road vehicle that u see today. The more popular the sports get the more injures happen. Alberta is I think pretty much the only province that does not have the common sense laws. It's not all a bad thing... it looks bad when you see it in the news. But when you actually sit down and read it and read the fine print. You can find allot of Grey areas in them. I did when bc changed everything this year. My little one still gets to enjoy her machine in every place she did before. It actually gave me some leverage as well to start planing a ridding area for kids.

I dunno pretty much everyone i knew had all terrain vehicle's.
The biggest differences i see now is the size , power and heaviness of the vehicles now compared to then.
Trikes were dangerous but my 90 and 110 ATC's were so light they could roll over you and not hurt you super badly.
even a 250 Big red is light compared to any Quad now a days.
The 2 strokes had power yes but as a example look at a banshee that was a power house machine and its tiny now a days.
It used to be power was in the sport bikes and the heavier stuff was essentially the farm/work stuff 300 Forman's etc.
The thing is its hard to put age restrictions on anything now a days.
Perhaps have classifications of ATV's Kid / Youth / Adult classes of atv's based of weight / power /size etc
12 year old gets caught on a adult class atv and fines are involved perhaps.
When i see a 10 year old kid on a Kodiak or bigger i shake my head if something happens they are just not built for it yet.
Also kids are fearless and dont know their limits yet thats why the adults should be placing those limits on them.
Im all for kids riding but no 12 year old needs to be driving a outlander 800 around because his dad upgraded his and thats the hand me down.

I agree the machine needs to fit the kid.. I have had mine riding since she could walk. She is now 6 and just upgraded her to a 125 frame fits her perfect. Since I have worked with her for so many years she is a very responsible rider. In bc kids can ride just about any ware as long as they are supervised. No forest service roads. The biggest help to her was installing helmet radios so we could talk at all times.. I see way to many 10 year Olds ridding 500 or bigger machines. Even seen a few on 1000's with no parent in sight

Exactly and then we scratch our heads and go . wow the number of injury's and fatal accidents with youths on ATV's has risen.
well there you go 90 pound kid on a +700lb machine with 50-80hp.
I rode basically unsupervised every day as a kid but my 90-atc would only do like 50 on a slightly down hill slope haha

I have a 4 year old who has been on her lt 80 since last summer around the yard and around camp and could likely handle her dumbed down quad better then any 16 year old that has never touched one. ..... countless hours in training with her. Now it's our responsability to teach our young ones ,don't take it away miss nutley.this is our jobs as parents . But I do think there should be a helmet law .
My little one is the same she can ride better than allot of the adults. She has been riding since just after she could walk so 3+ years. She just turned 6 and got a new machine.. Every part of your post is true
