Maybe what some of you weeny sniffers should do instead of worrying about me is take a bunch of that spare cash you have and find a group who deals with deserving families, and pass that plus a bit and maybe you can make some disadvantaged kids Christmas something to look forward to and remember as a happy time, instead of the norm. Make a difference to someone other than yourself. And if you already do, well good on ya, tough time of year for some folks, especially kids.

This site has the best info on riding conditions in western canada, high levels of entertainment and camaraderie, but pretty much no tech. Works for me, I can always put over to SW or DT for tech but those places don't have the soul there is here.

Pretty much. Sometimes it annoys me how often a thread will spiral into OT but then I just got find something else to read. Guys on here have helped me with tech when I need it. Conditions reports are awesome. I like the "follow along with my season" threads and would like to see more dudes (or dudettes) posting those.

All online communities go through up and downs but I like this place so I hope it grows and gets better with time.

I actually looked into this last night whilst sitting in my hotel room. Lots of peeps on kijiji asking for a hand, but I don't trust kijiji and most of the people who need it most won't ask...I replied to one post where a friend had posted up for someone else. 2 girls 4 & 7 which may not get much if anything, apparently they are into the "frozen" crap. I asked which mall was closest to their house so I could buy the crap and leave it at customer service for them to pick up keeping it 100% anonymous. Then I find out they are in Hinton, not that I won't it just means I need an address and have to ship.

Realistically my kids are spoiled and so are the wife and I, we are truly blessed so to shell out $100 for a couple of less privileged kids is no issue. I don't have much sympathy for people not being able to get by in this province when we can't find decent staff but I don't like the admin and overhead costs associated with the "charities" and I pay enough fawking tax to fund a social system which refuses to let those who won't do for themselves go away and die.

But the thought of kids not getting that toy at Christmas bothers me, for some of them their lives suck for 364 days so why can't they have one awesome day.... that $150 is my 3 hour bar tab on any given Tuesday.

Did the sanata's anonymous deliveries the past few years and what sucks about it is in my experience they don't appreciate anything, they are asking for the kindness of strangers and they complain about the timing, the size of the bag or just say "thanks" and slam the door. I understand for some it may be a little embarrassing or uncomfortable but have some humility and be polite and at least act thankful for fawk sakes.

It does seem so often that there is no appreciation, but I get that it must also be tough to not be embarrassed or feel a bit of shame for needing the help, and in some cases I see that as a good quality , at least they realize it's not normal and hopefully that will help motivate them back to a better place. I have a tough time also with the habitual annual same recipients that expect to be on someone's list every year rather than get off their a$$'s and improve their own situation.
We were able to find an organization in our town that seeks out families who are truly deserving because of hardships beyond their control, the donors put a hamper together for a specific annonymous family including christmas eve snacks , gifts for each family member and a full Christmas dinner, usually ends up around $500 . It's an awesome endeavor and this year they were able to help over 50 families, and I know there are lots of other organizations that do this type of thing.
Im of the same opinion, it really bugs me that there are so many small kids that get such a $hitty deal at Christmas, when so many of us are so lucky to have so much, but how do you get the gifts or financial help to the kids and insure that it's not used up for the parents bad habits, that's a tough one.

As far as I am concerned, sending you elsewhere IS helping disadvantaged people by making everyone else's lives happier by not having to read about your hate on constantly for Doo!

I blame the mods for the OT. As a mod on a few different forums, they let it go too far IMO for far too long. And then pull $hit like deleting threads and posts without explanation, and clear favoritism. There used to be a fair bit of tech when I joined up, not so much anymore as a lot of people got sick of it and bailed. I understand this is a large forum with a lot of different groups, but it's highly manageable - with the right people........

As far as snow reports and PSA's, etc, this site is second to none in Canada that's for sure. Just don't post anything in the Doo forum cuz your gonna get jumped!

At the end of the day if you don't like it you can always log out I suppose.

I never called anyone an azzhat. I simply stated they could do more to maybe curb some of the stupidity they let slide which drags the site down. How can you say they aren't responsible for controlling that? They are the only ones that can control how far people take things, how far things go OT. Nobody else. If they do nothing, then it snowballs to the point where one has to shovel through a lot of BS to get to something worth reading. Look at the T3 Weight thread. Not saying some of the Doo owners aren't their own worst enemy sometimes but come on - 50 odd pages? That could have been cleaned up a lot earlier. If one wants to read BS, there is a whole area dedicated to that called Just About Anything Else. Move or re-direct the nonsense there and remind people that's what those area's are for. This is why I think a lot of the tech info has gone from this forum. Quite possible people are tired of wading through all the BS to find something useful or informative. Maybe the site needs more mods? Or more leadership? I dunno, I don't have access to the behind the scenes stuff so I dunno what they talk about back there.

It's tough to not read your BS. It's everywhere!! Every time you touch your keyboard it seems it's only to contribute something negative, un-informative and totally irrelevant. Just bashing where you can-primarily towards Doo and Doo people from what I have seen. It gets old.

Also I actually never stated that it would make me happier exactly. I was speaking for the general public, some of whom have posted in this thread implying that they feel that way. Although since you brought it up, I will say it would.
