Iphone help

Okay, so i leave to Italy in a little over 7 hours. I'm wondering if there is anyway to use the wifi on my phone while there without the ridiculous roaming costs. All i want to do is be able to check my email and facebook.

Turn on airplane mode, and WiFi.

yep there is . I did the same thing when I went to Mexico.

in your settings menu go to "General" then "Network" and turn "Enable 3G" off and turn "Cellular Data" off and Turn "Data Roaming" off. Don't forget to turn "Airplane Mode" on in the settings menu.

When we went to Cuba the wife called Telus. They put us on a International plan. 20 cents a text vs 60. Any calls were $2.50/min but our kids text all the time. The plan was $20. Overall for 8 days cost us $100 with one phone call. So contact your service provider and see what plans are available. Then there will be no unwanted surprises with your bill. It's well worth it

Yea wifi is free and airplane mode your disconnected from your service provider. I made the mistake of turning on my phone Once while I was in Mexico for 3 weeks. 13 pic msgs 20 texts 6 voice mails 43 emails pop up. Then instantly a text from tells saying I've spent over 50 on data. Not looking forward to the bill

Like pipes said make sure you turn "data roaming" off. It will still roam in airplane mode as my friend learnt the hard way.
