If nobody is in the turn around you can easily get a 4 place turned in there. Was in a couple weeks ago and there would be lots of room. Otherwise you can turn around at the road junction.
We'll give it a whirl next week. Hopefully coming up to ride with the newf for a day or 2. Any report on snow conditions the last couple days?

There is a road junction to turn around at and then back in to park along the road.
This is your best bet. It's a bit if a cluster **** up there. Not sure if it is canfor asking for enforcement or forestry being anal. Out of clubs control either way.

Heading home for Japow Sunday, ho Lee Phuck what a place.

Ate at a food truck in Hirafu and they had a Canadian cedar table out front!

No it's light and dry. Thursday the temps warmed up and it fogged the mountain in, other wise it's been -6 and dumping. It's 7am, breakfast time and then off the rip the it up for a few hrs before heading back to Sapporro.

They have a crazy phenomenon here called cracking, the snow is so deep it cracks open in steep areas like glacier crevasses. I saw one that was a meter wide and probably 3m deep.

All the trees on the mountain are birch.

If anyone has the thought of coming here I highly recommend it. Cost of food booze etc is on par with home. Most of our meals for 5 were around 15-20000 yen. It's 86 yen to a dollar. The food has been fantastic.

Anyone got a status update on Brewer? I know it's a bit lower until the back, snow or no snow?

Anyone here ride Catamount Glacier like to head up there but looking for a guide, Toby Creek Adventures said they aren't aloud to guide there. Love to get some feedback on the area, I hear it doesn't open until Feb 15th

Correct, it's doesn't open until then. I do know they have an application in to guide up there, build yurts(on forester fsr) and a bunch of other stuff. Came across a submission of some sort a while ago.

That was the folks from toby made that application? That'd be interesting. It's getting close to go time for catamount tho! Is it the 14th or 15th it opens?

Interesting read. Goes over some of what they do locally and plans for the future. Google "tca tenure amendment" 38 page pdf i can't figure out how to link it.

I like to kitesurf, so I am trying to find a good mountain location to try it out. So catamount glacier seems interesting. Kitesurfing needs wind so I imagin most windy days up there would be whiteout any ways. Only need 12-17knots or so. Like to sled and board as well anyway. Don't have many friends to follow me to Catamount so if a small group is forming next month sure love to tag along and learn the area.

Tca is always thinking about the future, it takes years to get things approved around here so they start early.

Was good to get back on the sled today after a couple weeks.

It was deep and storming all day. Not much left to ride by the end of the day, everyone was in the meadows with the low visibility.

Should be reset by tomorrow if the forecast it right.

What a day yesterday, blue sky and deep pow. Trail was really whooped out but the groomer operator was on the way in when we were loading up.

The new beacon search park is now up and running. Give it a try, it is humbling to say the least. I have practiced lots with my beacon over the years and was embarrassed with my results.

Was it you setting up the beacons on Fri Darcy? We broke trail into the lakes that day and it was awesome. Really cool how it wind swept everything up there. Kinda sucked to ride but looked so neat.
