Any word on conditions up on the glacier? I know it been hot but hoping to find something up there.
We were in on Saturday and it wasn't tremendous for fresh snow. 6 inches to a foot with a kind of crusty layer underneath. Nothing really exposed and there isn't anything a guy really needs to watch for. Lots of stuff was starting to break on its on tho. Quite a few big ones to come down at Thunder water and there was a couple triggered on the east side of Harmon peak on catamount.
And for Petes sake guys let's stop poaching into northstar. It doesn't help one bit for next year if the club has any lead way and it just keeps getting hit anyways through the closure. I know it's tempting sitting up on the pass looking at it.

I am on the fence about northstar, I have always been a rule follower and gaining proper authorization but the stupidity in the government and other local users has almost pushed me to say ****em and ride everywhere. We have been doing everything the government asked for and all we get is the fish cops coming out and giving tickets for parking on the road, not proper helmets, and no registration.

I really believe the green and ndp party are bumping up enforcement to make a case against all back country use. In the 15 years I've been here I have seen the fish cops in Forster once until this year and they are out there most weekends.

Big storm forecasted for Thursday and Saturday.

I've seen the fish cops out there a few times in the parking lot and on the snow. Expected them to come and ask for license, registration, Etc but they didn't even say hello. Not actually sure what they're doing up there. And from what I could tell there's no way they were getting onto the glacier with their sleds and or skills. It sounds like this last Saturday was a Gong Show with people hauling trailers and Jack knifing after the pay booth.

Haha Ya that might have been us that got Jack knifed past the booth. It was fricken slick. I stepped out of the truck and I slid past the end of the trailer in my sled boots by about 40 feet before I just sat down and rolled into the snow. I don't think with chains I would have even made it up. Fella with a little open 2 place was Jimmyd up right behind us too. Was not a fun situation. That south facing slope right past the booth would have been fine in the morning before the sun got around to it but by 10 it was a skating rink.
One fella in the parking lot said the they had to park at 19 at the old booth and the fish cops gave him a ticket for riding on a plowed fsr which I know is a ticketed offence in bc but if it's the sled club that's maintaining the road now doesn't that mean its open for sleds to use it.......

I hear you Darcy about the north Star closure. I've sat up on that rock way to many times with 40 sleds running around on catamount and not a track in North star and every time I'm so close to just saying Frick this let's go. I've always wanted to drop in there and see where it is that you drop down off the toe of the glacier and come out close to the sled shed. But my stupid conscience gets the best of me every time. Damn parents that raise kids with standards and morals and crap.

Yeah my buddy with the blue truck had studded tires, but was damn glad to have chains he said. Agreed on north star.

Oh in that blue dodge with the deck? Ya he pulled that guy backwards with the little 2 place. I got the pleasure of backing up the 4 place enclosed from 50 feet away from the top of the hill all the way back to the lot. That was fun in slick stuff. We had that silver chevy Duramax with a deck and a black enclosed. Sorry for the gong show.
I even asked the girl at the booth if the road had been sanded or if we should unload at 19 and she said nope your tires look good you'll be fine. It was good till about 50 feet from the top and we taboggened 100 yards backwards. Couldn't turn it out and Jack knife into the snow. I literally had to put it into reverse and feed it throttle while sliding backwards to get the wheels to pop out of the tracks and into snow. Not fun.

We kinda got screwed by canfor on the road this year, first the **** show at the 32 km with the cable logging and now it's really tough to deal with the road from 19km. Do we sand it at a huge expense every weekend , try to pull snow onto it and groom it or let it be....

Was there Monday and Tuesday with a deck,..no problem..but for sure is sketchy in afternoon sun for pulling a trailer. My 2 cents pull snow onto the road with groomer and groom. Wanted to say thanks for the beacon park set up..great practice.

How far in can we pull a 2 place enclosed.
With chains all the way to 27.7km.....
Horse thief fsr is maintained but once you turn onto Forster they have stopped maintaining.
With the warming and rain forecasted tomorrow at lower elevations it's going to get worse unfortunately.

Glad to hear someone us using it. Everyone who has used it is humbled by how much more difficult it is than surface searching.

Ya run a ridge across the road at 19 and start grooming from there or its gonna just keep getting worse. Shouldn't take to long tho and it'll be almost dry to 27 eh?
Ya the beacon parks definitely remind a guy how much you need to practice. Every year.
How's the forecast for up top. We're going to be back out on Saturday again and we're doing the best snow dance I know

Rained all day yesterday in town, clear today and snow predicted tomorrow. Temp is -1 at 730am.

Ralley was great, 55 hands sold and 65 people showed up for the banquet. Tons of prizes were donated for silent auction from local businesses like Panorama(season pass) Fairmont(weekend stay) St Eugene mission (golf weekend), Ralph's motor sports, Peak performance, Syndicate , Columbia cycle, Monster energy and more.

It was worth all the meetings and work, we made a Bunch of cash for the club and met new riders. It will happen again next year.

I did ride but not Forster, stayed away from the crowds and went ski touring. Was a beauty day.

Thinking of coming to invermere for a family trip. Take my boys skiing for a couple days. Was trying to convince a buddies family to come along also and us dads would ditch the fams for a day or two and go sledding. Looking like my buddy isn’t gonna make it.

Question is if anybody would be interested in having a single tag along for a day of sledding?

Planning to be there Wednesday the march21 to Sunday 25th.
