Intermittant check engine light

Here is one that has me wondering. My check engine light came on during my last ride. I couldnt find anything wrong. However I noticed during the rest of the ride that whenever I gave it full throttle,the light would go out until the rpms came down,then the light would come back on. Any ideas? 11 pro 800. Thanks.

I'm guessing TPS. If the light flashes at idle then pull your brake lever and keep hitting the select button until the code pops up. I'm guessing it will be 51 with a small 10 in the corner.

Thanks for your reply. Ill check for codes although I just reset the TPS about 200 miles ago. It was slightly out of spec.

I hope not. I changed pistons and cyls-800 miles ago. Sled is pulling hard. new primary clutch and springs. 8150-8200 rpms consistantly, 64 gram weights. I also just changed the exhaust bellows and cleaned the valves.

Started the sled when I got home and of course the check engine light would'nt illuminate. I dont think a code can be retreived unless the light is active. Correct?

Correct,as soon as you shut off the sled the code goes historic and the dealer has to pull it up.If the light comes on then goes out you can still diagnose the code as long as you don't shut it off.

My 12 did the same it was the EGT sensor

Happened exactly like that with mine. Ended up being 173-3. Egt sensor.
