I think you should thank him and acknowledge that it is driving you nuts trying to figure out why he returned it after all these years. How did he know where to send the card??? He must have been in touch with one of your family or a friend you stay in touch with. I would keep the card one day you may need it, and you have survived so far without the money.

Maybe he is sick and is trying to right the wrongs he committed in the past.

Thats what I was thinking too.

Might be a good gensture to call and let the guy know that he is forgiven and that you appreciate it.
