Just throwing this out there.

My old man needs a walk in tub. He's in his mid 80's and can't use his normal jet tub anymore.

I researched out the walk in tubs and found they are pretty spendy, especially if they are jetted. they are around $6000. He doesn't have a lot of $$$

I found a tub that has no jets and is very reasonably priced, and was thinking... how hard would it be to install these jets and pump in the tub....

I was thinking of just removing the existing pump from his old tub and using it on the new one....new outlets and pipes...?.?

Anyone ever try something like this with success?? Anyone know of a supplier for this?

Thanks in advance.

would think any hot tub place could set ya up with what you need...with a little research you could probally do it a lot cheaper..ie parts from states ebay ect...no reason it wont work

Might affect home insurance if it ever leaked due to lack of engineering and CSA approval. Might be something that should be looked at before you chance a project like that.

Cant imagine the tub it self is any different, fixed a couple hot tubs and everything is pretty straight forward . drill some holes, silicone in the jets, run some lines and wire in a pump. chit you could go all out with a spa pack and heater sit in there for hours and never get cold. most spa places can hook you up and tell you what you need.

He has a jet tub now.. Just can't sit down and get back up anymore. I was thinking of retrofitting the old pump and just buy new outlets, fit the pipes... even mount the pump on the floor... air switch, GFI.. LOL

If it leaks... no biggie, it's not like it would be as bad as a fridge waterline failing... at least it would only leak while the tub is operating...I am not selling it to a customer.. It's my old man and he is a stubborn German..
