It is open random camping, camp where ever you like. There is camping down by the river or up top. We found it windy most of the time we were there. If we go back we would camp up top in the treed areas. You can ride right out of your campsite. Cross the dam and off you go. There are maps of the area at the kiosk just across the dam. When it is dry it is a little dusty. But get off the main road ( trail ) and it is ok. There are several trails to ride ( numbered on the map ) If you fish, go down by the cement pillar, where the water is swirling. Saw alot of nice lake trout come out of there. Hope this helps you out. Kelzon :)

There is a sign on the highway, says Big Horn Dam turn left and go till the end ! You will come to the river. If you camp down by the river the bald eagles will put on a show for you. Watch the cliffs that is where they are most times. :)

We like campin down in the bottom,on the point right at the bottom of the dam. And you are right !!!!!, the eagles are incredable to watch !! The wife and I would have our morning coffee watching the rise and fall of the water AND the eagles fishing !!! Sooooo COOL !!!! Being at Big Horn sure beats the rat race of life I am normally in !!!! (2 weeks to go !!! AND I am there !!)
( Oh, wait !!!! There is nothing cool out at Big Horn !! Nothing anybody else would enjoy !!! Stay Home !!!) LOL

It was dry and dusty. And the wind did not seem to stop.
Still a great place.

You can also camp just past the Dam on 11 at Terishishner Creek, it's smaller but no wind usually, then you can ride across the road up to crescent and still go down around the resevoir to the dam

dry and dusty he says..........ha ha that is putting it mildly lol. first time i have ever gone camping and couldnt use the awning, when your going down the trail and all of a sudden your goggles spin around on your head , you know its a tad breezy out.On the bright side of things i did get to drag gforce's grizzly back to camp, and had to laugh when he said if it were a popo he would rather have pushed it lmao. Im sure next time my cv blows up on the xmr gforce will be all smiles when he hands me the dirty end of a tow rope .
