Indy Trail will not rev up

I have a '98 Indy Trail and it will not rev up. It will fire right up and idle when I go to rev it up it dies. Changed the coil and fuel pump (From a friends 500), fresh fuel - did not help. What else could it be? It revs just past clutch engagement and if I give it anymore fuel it dies. The only thing I can think of is plugged up carb?

Sounds like the main jets are clogged or possibly and issue with the needle and seats. Its more likely the jets though. First thing i would do is take the belt off and see if the problem still happens. If it doesn't its the clutch. if it does i would start with cleaning the carbs.

Found the key is shorting out. Pulled the harness off the back of the key and it revs right up.
