LOL imagine if these were 1200 O&G jobs. What is wrong with a company being profitable?

nothin wrong with making some coin but when you have a company like this hollerin they want cheap labour and they want the gov to subsidize them with our tax dollars when there making millions a year....cry me a river...holding door open

as for the big ocean ...well is not so big when our own gov is flyin 1/2 million of them in a year...who pays the airfair ?....

I understand what you are saying but Canada is not the only country doing this. As a kid I lived in 2 separate countries and could not speak a word of their language but the school systems provided my brother and myself with an interpreter free of charge. I remember I was in grade 4 and had to stand up every day in front of the class reciting the Greek alphabet and being helped by the interpreters.

Totally ridiculous! Try to get a little extra help for a child's learning disability and the awnser is NO. But there seams to be no end to the cash flo for outsiders. It's like Canada is trying to prove to others by saying look how cool we are. Here have some money...

not in the 1970's and don't believe 100% what the Media reports about that. Lots of political games played within the EU on that.

That's exactly my point , doing ridiculous things like this will eventually have long term economic consequences!
Like for example we had a balanced budget with Harper ...and now we are seriously in the red , thanks to JTs financial miss handling of our country .

In fact his finance minister just admitted they will be much deeper in debt than they originally calculated ( well dahh) and has no idea when we will see a balanced budget again ...!

Simply put , we can not afford to go around the the globe giving our cash away , just to get a pat on the back ....
Sadly there will always be a Syria / Bosnia/ Sudan and so on ....I feel for these people , the best way to help them is to have a strong western world economy !
Could you imagine a world with out the financial stability of the western free world ?
How many refugees ( Muslim no less )has Saudi Arabia took in and paid for ?
We really are headed down a dangerous path....

agree with some points but the Greek economy suffered its blows from the US mortgage collapse that took countries like Iceland, Ireland etc down. Greece's economic woes dwarfs the debt by Spain, Italy, Portugal, USA, Japan etc. The EU/banks played hard ball with Greece as they do not want the much larger economies to fail and expect bail outs as the world economy would be in a whole lot of hurt. So, Greece's problems are not from them providing free services but invested heavily and got caught. As for JT/Harper bashing, not going down that path other than JT's performance as he just proves to me he is a typical politician out of touch with reality. One likes to blow our money, take selfies etc and the other sold our country to foreigners, couldn't balance a budget in 8 years, couldnt get the pipe line built etc etc. They both have their faults and I guess we need to compare how they both performed after JT's time is up. Don't have huge faith in much improvement though. Same blah blah.

That's exactly my point , doing ridiculous things like this will eventually have long term economic consequences!

come on the "surplus" of 1.9 billion after 8 years is a joke and the timing of it just before the election. With an economy of 2 trillion this small token of a surplus is silly. The bigger question is how much we are now going to have to pucker up and take it!

It doesn't do any country good to lose thier best people to Canada, and it sells us out.Lose.Lose.As for Greece thier problems are very real, less then 30% ever paid taxes, can u imagine having a daily cash withdrawal limit?
Truth is Canada will immigrate the worst of the worst like all the crime ridden violent Somalians that costs us billions in police work.....then the police had to apologize to them!!! WTF

hahahaha 30%??? Most greeks work for companies that take payroll deductions just like here in Canada and cannot be avoided. The tax evasions were coming from the "elite" or company owners that had the ability to hide their incomes. I know a lot of people on this side of the pond doing the same (i.e. cash sales). Anyway, as mentioned above, don't believe everything you hear on the news. As for daily cash withdrawal, that was temporarily put in place to avoid collapsing the banking system.

And what will JT #s be at the end of his term ? Lol
How can you seriously question harpers track record , while not addressing jts mess!
Any way , I know you are a JT fan , and are a little embarrassed about his job so far...
like you said give the young guys chance , what could go wrong .....

Billions in debt , billions & billions ... The liberal way .

very good question about JT and so far he is screwing us around just like the previous guy. Obviously you don't read my comments very well as I am far from a JT fan just like I was with Harper. Anyway, either way, we are screwed

Gotta remember bud that Harper spent the first 5-6 digging out from the Liberals fiasco of self entitlement such as Adscam and the such. He started at a huge disadvantage.

Saw this on the news the other night.. That's a huge population of people.. Skilled labour is typically green lit and access granted to Canada or USA fairly easily.. The skilled labour force is great for Canada.. We can always use more Doctors, Dentists and tradespeople. Going to use Dr's for example.

Issue becomes two fold - instead of training our own people by investing in education to incentivize young people and parents to push University for 7 years, we outsource the labour. The countries we steal this talent from loses it's Skilled labour and therefore the people who remain also search for a better standard of living. They follow the Dr's in search of a better life and from there - the countries they have fled struggle to survive, leadership is under the gun, chaos ensues - Canada to the rescue with Military help - shows a sign of aggression to the rebels..
We're here to help - you created the problem...

I run a business, imagine having a direct competitor of yours announce they are hiring thousands of employees in Barbados, paying higher salaries, health benefits and 3 day work weeks.. How would you compete with that as an owner.. Barbados company would be debt loaded, communicate poorly and be torn apart from the hardworking boots on the ground. I'd survive, my crew experience would suffer, accidents would happen and my stress level would be immense.. Same same running countries..

My perspective - beyond all the Cultural issues.

Here's the deal on shiny pony.......to much fluff and to much gifting other countries with my tax dollars so he can look like a world visionary. I don't like the cocky little prick (excusey my francais) and the sooner he goes away the happier I will personally be. Its 2016 like he says and today kids all over Canada are learning that you don't have to work at it to be successful. You can be a part time ski bum/part time drama teacher/ part time bouncer and be a full time Prime Minister. He has zero credentials for the job other than having a last name and he takes a great selfie.

Well put ....
It really is undeniable that he is in way over his head ...
This constant BS , though of all political leaders are the same is utter nonsense.

Like any other professional/ person ... There are piss poor ones, great ones and many in the middle ...
We had a good one & now we have a terrible one ..
But to be so gullible as to assume they all are the same is a sad sad view of our country & democracy.

I'll take a 1.8 billion surplus after 8 years any day over 31 billion dollar deficit in 1 year under Trudeau.

People have different ways of evaluating political performance. Yours is clearly based on dollars, others may have alternative performance measures.

I'll take a 1.8 billion surplus after 8 years any day over 31 billion dollar deficit in 1 year under Trudeau.

It wasn't a cumulative surplus, it was a one year surplus. The cumulative deficit was huge over that 8 years. However, that included the recovery from the worst recession since the 30's.

you have your opinion and I have mine. You are acting like Harper was an angel and I like to call a spade a spade. JT has become the Joker in the pile of cards. I am not scared to call it the way it is regardless who is in power. Anyway, again like an idiot I get sucked into trying to have somewhat of a civil discussion of our political issues but again one gets insulted. I am far from gullible Mr.

You are right Ken and thats why I voted for Harper at the time (yup voted for Harper LOL). Anyway, he did inherit a mess from the liberal government but he also inherited a 13 billion surplus.

Gotta remember bud that Harper spent the first 5-6 digging out from the Liberals fiasco of self entitlement such as Adscam and the such. He started at a huge disadvantage.
