Attawapiskat was on the new's here awhile ago.I am no expert in the afairs of how a reserve is ran
or how much money each one get's,but I'm interested in the outcome of this 3'rd party manager being
put in place to give the books a looking over.It's not fair for me to judge yet,anyway.
They declared a state of emergency,then the took the government to court to block anyone from looking
at their books?That doesnt look good from my point of view.

Global did a news story about 2 weeks ago trying to find out what was going on. They flew in there and asked some of the locals why the land isn't ready for the houses to be delivered. On lady said "I dunno, go ask the chief!" Pretty clear as to whats going on there when 3rd party officails were denied axcess to the books to see where the $48,000,000 went in the last 2 years. Ever since then its been silance coming from Attawapiskat. These are some of the things/problems I have tried to bring to attention. After the news story broke so many people were saying "oh those poor people, how could they be left like that". Perhaps some are starting to relize that a mass amount of funding and hand outs is not helping anyone and just a huge waste of tax money.
How many doctors, nurses, MRI/x-ray machines, schools or other public structures could have put the 48million to needed use?

Why not show some footage of the rest of the town if EVERYONE is living in poverty?
Where is the footage of the chiefs house and the other council members?

Completely agree and I have talked about this before with other people. The media seems to be very one sided on certain stories I also noticed they were showing the same temp structures and talking to younger people on the reserve and no one who is actually in charge. Look at enoch reserve, they have a casino as far as reserves go they are a "rich" reserve but some people still live in substandard housing. They were once given a beautiful new house and have kicked the walls and doors in, smoke inside, rip up the carpet and tiles (to burn or because they don't want to clean them etc) and its the exposed hardwood, also the siding is coming of or spray painted and windows broke and so on. I gave you an example of houses I have personally been to and been in for calls. Not saying they are all like this but some are and most have little kids and babies along with multiple family members living in these houses. Safe? No. Sanitary? Nope. Should things change. Yep. But they were given a brand new house at one point and this is what has become of it... So what give them another new house? My boyfriend and I work our a$$es off to ensure we own a nice, clean well taken care of house! Why can't they?
