Well I just finished putting a challenger on my nytro and it took me a little while particularly since I studied each gear as I pulled apart the Chain case to make sure I would remember how it goes back together, total time 6.5 hours... and there are tricks to getting the suspension bolts back into their holes.

Then I took it for a ride slow and steady for a while then put it into some powder and WOW does it pop out of the snow now, the Mavierk track would pull you out with a bunch of spinning but the Challenger pops you right up and sends the skis in the air at 1/2 throttle!!

Seriously I haven't got a ton of riding on it yet, but thought I would pass along that it really does feel like a 20hp more machine now since the track acutally hooks up, I'm off to the hills this week to give it a real good test and now I CAN'T WAIT, its like Christmas all over again.

No it is 153X15X2.25 Challenger, and no other mods, the only thing I did when I changed the track was put the rear suspension bolt in the lower hole to provide more clearance.

I ripped off the swaybar a long time ago, I would recommend this to anyone as well, not only does it wiegh 5 lbs, but the sled turns much better in the deep, tippier on the trails but that is not why I have an MTX.

It is a pretty honest comparison in my opinion.

By far one of the best mods to be done to these sleds. I rode mine once this year with turbo and stock maverick, was somewhat impressed with the power. Swapped in a CE 2.5 for second trip and WOW! Night and day difference. Recreation Supply has them and have seen decent deals at Tracks Canada.

I am upgrading the stock maverick track to a 162x16 camo extreme this month...just waiting for a buddy to get back from work so he can help with the install. From what I have been told this will make a big difference.....now just need to save up for boost!:d

If anyone is interested I have a 153 by 2.25 challenger track here brand new.

$500 + shipping I ended up using a 156 with a set back on the skid.

cheers..........

ya don't know, what ya don't know.

there is allot of conversation as to where the 15 versus 16 wide is better on the nytro. anybody have some insight?

The 16 wide stretched to 162 that we compared to my buddies 15 wide handles like a tractor on the Nytro that is my opinion anyway.

Then again I did put a 15 wide camo extreme on my Apex and like it way better than the 16 wide to.

Who knows it may just be me.

cheers......

do you think there is a power gain with the 15 wide?
less mass to turn
room to exhaust snow

The sled just turns easier responds to weight shifts easier.

Side-hilling is a huge difference way less effort to hold a line.

It is all around more responsive even with the power delivery , might just be that the 16 wide does choke up under the tunnel a bit .

cheers...........

I just changed my Apex MTX to a 16 wide camo extreme, hopefully all the talk about them is for real.

Mine is the new one also, I thought I read somewhere about the older ones having a laminating issue, so they changed them a bit. I know over on snowest people rave about these tracks, they apparently pop you on top of the snow instead of digging you a nice big hole first.

yeah my old ce sure did leave a trench! but still a huge improvement over the maverick, and yes i also heard lots about the delaminating issue, just hope the new ones are tougher but don't know as they are supposed to be 3 pounds lighter??
