at work for the forks on the machines we use liquid wrench with dry graphite, works wonders and even in the rain/mud/snow it sticks around for a while, I love the stuff

Greaseless silicone lubricant works well but needs to be reapplied after a few uses. Doesn't leave that nasty grey on everything, dries clear, and doesn't attract dust.

I find pretty much anything gums up to some degree the best thing that's worked for me is nothing just clean the rails really good and even a little scotch brite on them then just keep them clean after every trip.

Graphite is black and before you know it... It's on all your stuff..

Silicone spray, or superlube, it's got teflon in it..

You can also try a wax of some sort.

I would sometimes just get a white candle and pencil it on my slides..\

What the hell you talking about "it's on all your stuff"
It's on the slide out rails not the inside of your truck?
Geesh
Deck builder has been using it for years as well as on boat bottom's

I have been rebuilding my deck and noticed on my STF they have thin pieces of UHMW (plastic) on all 4 sides of each slide tube. No need to lube it slides like grease.

Graphite spray is a messy product.
It is black, and can stain aluminum and is stubborn to remove.

get over yourself sally..LOL.

Get 1 drop of that $hit on some white plastic or clothes and you will never get it out. Just an observation. Take it as you want.

When I fabricated my decks, I actually used 1-1/2 square tubing as the main crossmembers, and 1" square tubing for the extensions.

I adhered thin 1mm UHMW plastic on the 4 sides of the extension tubes with 2 sided foam tape. It was snug, but after a while it compressed and is now smooth as butter.

you can also go to wal-mart and get that thin cutting board material, it also works well.
