Yeah I was looking at this cam too, looks like a slick unit. Can anyone on here confirm this?

Also looking at the vio, not really to excited about a cable....

i cant stand the cord/external unit combo the VIO has, its definitely off my list as its just too cumbersome

i was thinking the HD1080... until i saw the GPS had that bluetooth app, though its not out for the droid yet but regardless
i dont care about the GPS but that app seems mighty tempting

I got the pov.hd, awesome camera. seen more than one thread of people looking for their lost go pros or contours after a crash or tree branch wiping them off.

plus, seeing the big go pro camera mounted on the top of someone's helmet reminds me of the days when I tried to build my own helmetcam by taping an 8mm video camera to my helmet....

That was the other way I was looking at going.....

POV has the highest quailty HD.

Maybe a guy could put the brains in a steering post bag and then bar mount the lense.... do you think that would work TeeRoy?

Where did you buy yours from? Online?

ya, the pov is the only TRUE hd helmetcam. go pro and contour expand the video to hd dimensions for playback. pov has an actual texas instruments hd processor built in. the only one that does.

I tuck the recording unit into my front chest pocket of my coat, I think you would need the longer cable to run it in a bag on the sled. vio doesn't reccommend using the cable extender on the HD units, i guess it degrades video.

I got mine from Matt at Launch Helmetcams. awesome guys to deal with, and got a good price. they are a vendor here

Also, the POV would probably make shooting homemade porn a little more tricky!

I have the Contour 1080p HD and am really happy with it. I have mine mounted to the side of my helmet, the laser sights are handy, put your hand up when you turn it on and the 2 lasers show on your hand where it is aimed, so you're not focused on the clouds or on the ground. You can adjust the mic gain and volume from your PC. Wind noise is not so bad when you get it adjusted properly. They have quite a few different mounts available for different sports. I bought the waterproof case for mine last summer and it works good, the only negative thing that I have on this, is that you can't hear anything. the mic is sealed inside the case. I was on a tube behind the boat recording the kids wakeboarding, and the only thing you could hear was the water hitting the case. The video was great even through the case. Very clear. They have the GPS version out now, I haven't heard anything back on that yet, but it looks promising. Either one, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Hope that helps a bit  :)
