My dealer is waist deep in snowchecks, 140+ since 3 PM yesterday, Polaris planned on keeping snowcheck open for all of March but will likely be sold out soon, if not already. There might be a lot of guys who will have to settle for something else this year. This could be a good year for Cat to pick up some business.

Kind of cracks me up… 50cc more and now it’s labeled as “big bore“. Taking a 900 King cat as an example and making it a 1150 used to be considered a big bore. I understand technology has changed but makes me giggle a little.

Ya, i guess they were busy. Doo sold out a week ago. :skidoo:

Yup if doo had come out with the 900 first it would be a game changer! But now because Polaris did it’s pretty lame lol.
Its not lame, its great for all the NA guys. But its not going to compete with a new turbo in the mountains.

I really don't get your numbers? You are right a Doo Turbo is $26 grand but didn't they bump to 180 HP this year? The Polaris 850 was Dynoed at 171, the Boost 10% more is 188 and the 900 at 7% more gives it 183HP. So what if it drops a bit, even at 3% per 1000 ft it will be 150 HP at 6000' were most guys ride in BC. This motor will be a torque monster so any loss will be more than made up by torque. (without the turbo lag) On top of it they are 420lbs dry for a 165. What does your turbo Doo weigh?

Bottom line is if my N/A 850 keeps up to a turbo Doo where we ride now, this 900 should do equally well against the higher boost Doo version at $2000 less than the Doo. A fully decked out 900 with fancy gauge and upgrades shocks is $24k plus tax/fees. I doubt Doo prices went down and i know what my Doo buddy paid last year.

Doo Turbos weren't 26g. The new 900 isn't going to be 183hp, and if your riding in mountains, an NA 850 isn't keeping up with factory turbo. BOOM!

You are correct Mike… makes me laugh a NA 850 @ 6k will pull with a T Doo @ 6k
so tethair riddle me this how does a 850 T doo hang with a 850 boost ( yes I understand the 850 boost maybe slightly faster) just confused by your statement.

Yes I did. But that depends on the length of the race. I would say up to about 80kms/hr. By then the trees are blowing by pretty quick. Depends what you want. Polaris now has a tool for every job.

NA 850 doesn't stand a chance against a turbo doo in the mountains, I haven't raced them head to head but I have ridden them both and seat of the pants its not close.
At Renshaw on wknd and a NA 165 Doo takes two runs at the steep face by cabin.
Hits the hardest part on the left hand side and second run at top speed - was nuts but still does not make it.
I pull up to hill and then pinned it.
Straight over the top first shot, not an issue at all, my fat azz in the saddle.
That is about 6000' give or take a couple hundred.
When put to work an NA 850 can not touch an 850 turbo.
This was a no talent required straight up, to the bar pinned run.
Under load at elevation a boost kills NAs.
The 900 will be a great NA and even better boosted in 2024.

Just got off the phone with my dealer. He has at least 30 more prebooked sleds compared to his allocation numbers and even then some guys will not be able to order what they want. I wanted e-start so the guy let me know what he is allocated with e-start. had to tell him right then if I want one. Otherwise I won't get one from him. Remember not too may years ago when I guy could take a few weeks to think about it.

i Guess what I am wondering about is the conversation not very long ago was how the big bore is a thing of the past , this was coming from all camps. Forced air induction is the way of the future is what was being said . Which it probably is . Having played with more than a few of these bbs the ‘gains are modest unless you throw a lot timing and octane at it . What Chris Burandt is riding is not what will be sold to the public.it might look like it but nope . And the damn price , a crank out of a stock 650 matryx and a blue head to lighten things up for that price ? . My opinion is it is a parts,bin special until they figure out the fueling on the boost .
