I thought this one was different at first, that this was actually a innocent person, but again, nope. Just another criminal. Do I agree with what the cops did, specifically the kneeing on his neck? No and the cop should spend a long time in jail for it. But he put himself in that position with his life choices and played a part in his own death. The other thing that made things worse was the idiots yelling at the cops making the situation worse. But of course they don't see it that way.

I absolutely think there is still racism out there. What doesn't help is all the criminals making it worse for the rest. For example, do you hear about about racism towards asians, like cops beating them up or killing them? Nope. Probably because there isn't a bunch of them out there shooting people and dealing drugs, etc. The black community should look within itself for the blame first. They are more likely to die from each other then a cop. But it wouldn't be PC to say that.....

IMO any law abiding person of any race the worse they are going to get from the cops is maybe stopped an extra time, or an extra ticket. No person who isn't a criminal will die at the hands of the cops otherwise based on their race.

I think the sooner people stop bringing up race the sooner racism will end. My niece and nephew are half black and get a bit of it in school, that chit pisses me off but as far as cops? There's no concern there for law abiding citizens.

So all the Asian gang members have all moved back home?

Calgary has a much bigger problem with Asian turf wars than black people

My neighbor had to pull his son out of public school.
Continually bullied and beat up by gang in school.
He struck back once and got suspended.
Not one of the other kids ever got suspended.
Teachers were afraid to reprimand the Muslim kids.
There are many racism probles out there that are going to have long term effects.
US has problems for sure and most people that are protesting are unaware of how much the world suffers outside of their point of view.

So.... Is there gonna be a massive covid flair up cause of these protests?

Cause there will be real riots if this causes us to go back into lockdown.

Exactly!! Gonna be interesting to see what happens in a couple of weeks. I’m betting that there won’t be a significant rise in cases.

They killed at least 5 of thier own....the bleeding hearts won’t even mention it.I guess all black lives don’t matter

one of them was a 72 year old retired police turned security guard,he died trying to stop them from stealing TVs ......there’s a video of it on telegram dying on the sidewalk his phone still in his hand.

Today they smashed the windows out of a children’s hospital smashed cars on the street beat up whites etc. I see all the bad stuff the do on telegram msm and Twitter and Facebook deletes it all.

I hate to single the muslims out as there is many good one's but there is tons of problem one's too. One of my tenants of 5 years is from Egypt so technically they are Muslim I think, great people absolutely no problems and know many more like that. It's not even just the muslims though, so many immigrant kids are problems at school if they are from certain countries.

A lot of black people are simply using racism as an excuse to why they are deadbeats who will never amount to anything. Many are more racist then the people they complain about. Some would only be happy if white people were oppressed like blacks use to be.

It might not be PC and sounds bad hearing many older people say the muslims are coming here having a ton of kids and they are going to outnumber white people soon so white people should start having more kids. But I do think they are right about what's coming.

A very good friend's son in law wrote this, FWIW I've had a beer with Nate - Standup guy!!

Nate William-Facebook post

So I have been messaged a bit asking my opinion on the current landscape given who I am and my chosen profession. Well here goes and I warn you it will be a bit of a read.

I am a minority, I am a police officer. I am married to a Caucasian woman and my two children are, by default, interracial children. I wasn’t always the prime candidate to be a police officer, in fact those that know me well enough, know that I was a criminal with a rap sheet long enough to dumbfound the average person. I have also been homeless! Yes due to my own stupidity with money but non the less homeless, sleeping on the streets and stealing in order to eat. I provide these details not to gain sympathy but to illustrate that I have been on both sides as well as at rock bottom.

What happened to George Floyd is absolutely Dispicable and I believe that those police officers involved should be dealt with to the fullest extent possible. Was race a contributing factor? No one but Derek Chauvin knows, literally No one.
What I saw was an ill trained piece of **** who let his Ego get in the way of human decency. What I also saw was two brand new cops who were in the middle of training and were to scared to do the right thing.

The Fallout...... **** racism and ....... **** the police, if your a cop your the problem. ACAB as it were, I agree with only one of these results. I joined this Profession knowing that I was going to be hated by some simply because of the uniform I wear, a skin if you will. The judgement and hatred simply from the outward appearance. Hmmmm something like the color of someone’s skin.

In the last week I have witnessed people who know very well I’m a police officer, post some pretty ignorant and uneducated views. I don’t hate them for it because I understand their frustration, but it is that exact perpetuation of hate that they claim they are up in arms about. The painting of an entire group with the same brush due to the actions of a few.

During Edmonton’s Peacful protest Lastnight people of this great city turned out in droves, to the tune of 15000 + people. As I was working, I was right in the thick of it. It was amazing to see the support from all races and ages for the anti racism movement.
At approximately 8 pm I hear broadcasted over my radio that a man is overdosing (unconscious not breathing) and needs Narcan. Having two doses with me at all times, I begin driving lights and sirens to the location. It’s Gridlock in one direction, so I’m now on the opposite side of the road. My window was open and while navigating the plethora of cars and pedestrians, I remember hearing “**** you pig” and “**** the police” as I sped by, some people even stepping out into the road to force me to have to slow down and go around them. When I arrived on scene my squad mate (We’ll call him MW) was performing Chest Compressions on a Downed male. MW had been doing so for 5 minutes. Anyone who has done actual CPR knows how exhausting it is, so After arriving, I Subbed MW out and continued chest compressions on the overdosed male. As more of his ribs broke under my palms, I could hear two things.
1. The sound of his friend Screaming “don’t die” and crying hysterically
2. And being just off Jasper Ave, the faint and intermittent chants of “No peace, **** the police” and “Stop killing us” ......... yes as as we are trying to save the mans life.
CPR was performed for another 5 minutes for a total of 10 minutes....... 10 minutes!!!!! The man was clinically dead. Let that sink in. He was narced 4 times.
EMS arrived and the male sputtered his breath, and the sound that everyone can imagine of a man coming back to life was emitted.
For even a Second, do you think that MW who is a Black male, thought about the race of this now dying victim before he started life saving measures? Did he contemplate that this non black male might be a racist or hate MW for being a police officer? Not once! Not even for a fraction of a second.

Another good friend of mine (we’ll call her TR) was at the Protest lastnight. She has seen and dealt with Rasicm her whole life being a Black / Filipino Canadian. She was disgusted by the amount of signs she saw denouncing the police and the sheer hatred that was being spewed. She went as far as to comment to one of the People holding a “**** the police” sign, that they were at the wrong protest. That is so damn powerful and I was so proud of her for speaking up. Support the police and be against racism, you can do both. One is NOT inclusive of the other.

Both TR and MW are pure Examples of the Change that you all are screaming to see. And I know we all can do better. I am sad that an innocent man and numerous people before him had to lose their life for the demand for action to have reached this scale. But I am glad it has, I am glad that people are finding the courage to speak up about their experiences or lack of for that matter. The tough conversations need to be had and they need to be had with the expectation of understanding, not Response. Your opinion matters and if someone only lets you speak so that they can turn around and tell you why your wrong, then those people need your compassion the most. They don’t posses the ability to think freely or reasonably.

If your reading this, please, I beg of you, open your mind and allow this moment, which will go down in history, to improve, enlighten and love. Police are not the issue and if you have suffered a slight at the hands of police, I apologize on their behalf. 99.9% of the police I know and work with, are the amazing people you hope them to be. I make this promise to you, as a non white male, as someone affected by racism, as a police officer, to be the change that you all want to see. I will speak out and act against any instance or being that is contrary to that! I don’t care who you are, YOUR LIFE MATTERS.

I agree with pretty much most posts on here, however.... Things in this regard seemed to be quietly improving until virtue signaling politicians, bias media and several others with some sort of “platform” entered the scene,,
I’m not gonna hang this on any particular demographic other than the far left.... It is they who are “stoking” the fire combined with the Covid loss of freedom and hardship that have many lashing out in whatever opportunity is availed...
7-8+ years ago global maturity seemed to be healing these type of problems,... It was hardly a discussion, what changed?
The “rioters” frankly should all be given the maximum fines and penalties allowed, they’re not helping a thing...
