see husky has 94 octane gas. just what is this, must have ethanol(alcohol) in it, how much and is it good for your sled vs 91 octane gasoline. have used it last year, in golden, but still questions remain.

and no bogger it is not a new cocktail, although it is a hot seller on the reserve.

Friggin gasoline

ethanol will void HD warrenty! I has cooked a few of my engine (that were not fuel injected and running big power) ethonal runs leaner and hotter. polaris has the wire that you jump to run ethonal but if you ask high up....... they say do not run ethonal!

just flat out stay away from it.....an once of pervention .....is worth a pound of cure! run cheveron 94 if you need the 94!

I was told recently by the manager of one of local bulk stations that as of last year all gas in bc has ethanol not just the 94 husky. By the way he does not woork for husky either. Is this a possibility or total bullchit?

Go buy yourself a new lawn mower from Sears and see what it has to say. It names 2 stations by name. Mohawk and husky, if it isnt good for a lawn mower, how can it be any good for your sled. It is a clean burn, enviroMENTAL safe. Next you will be recycling newspaper another crock

In the Skidoo books for the 2009 800R it says you can run up to E15 Ethonol blend fules and to run 94Octane, the 94Octane at Mohawk is E10 10% or Less.

I still stay away from it as much as possible.

I also subscribe to the 'ounce of prevention' idea. I generally try to buy my gas at shell or chevron.

In my head
Corn based Ethanol fuels......

Highly subsidized - causing increases in costs for food products fed on corn like meats, poultry, eggs etc.

Lower actual MPG - although Corn Etahanol fuels have higher octane and you can run higher compressions and therfore produce more power, more power often equates to faster fuel burn and lower fuel mileage.

It often takes 1 gal fossil fuel to turn Corn to 1 gal ethanol eliminating the beneftis derived from Corn based Ethanol fuel.

Takes large amounts of water to distill Corn to Ethanol.

Corrosive to some metals and can cause some elastomers to become brittle.

Adding Ethanol to fuel is nothing more than a very expensive excersize in political correctness.

Worst part is Mexican farmers are replacing Agave with corn to sell to the US gov. That means Tequila volumes go down and prices go up.

Only good thing about ETOH in fuel is it removes water. Even than there is open debate on that being a benefit as ETOH will absorb water from the air. So in essence you are increasing the water content of that tank of gas.

My rant.

Friggin' ETOH fuels...........

i ha d heard that in a documentry on discovery channel a couple years back. takes twice as much fossil fuel to create half as much ethanol fuel. doesn't take a scienist to figure out the benifits of that. twice as much pollution for half the product. but it keeps the us farmers happy and the politicians look good in the enviro dipsticks eyes.
but i agree with what was said farther up in the thread. as of jan 2010 every fuel supplier has to have a min 10% ethanol blend in there tanks. they just dont advertise it.

I avoid the ethanol (Husky /Mohawk) fer cars and sleds.

Is there any high octane (93 or 94) available at the pump without ethanol. Chevron in BC had 93, is there anything in Alberta?

Been running husky 94 in all 3 of my xp's and never had a problem, so do all my buddies. I know my turbo car loves it too. I even go to the stations that only have 94 on the pump rather than a mulit pump. I think gas and oil are like religion, we all reccomend what we preach......
