No reason to give reason. It's business. Get the info, on what's what and deal away.

Politics are what make this team suffer in the first place.

storm1972, I wouldn't discount trading within the division because when you are in the Oilers position you really have to strongly consider any move that improves the team regardless of the trade partner. But if the Oilers are trading away a player like Hall, Eberle, or Nuge within the division then they will obviously need a premium over teams outside of the division.

I don't think that would go over well asking the players individually on who the problem is. Lots of teammates become good buddies and share lots of information and I can only see that creating a more toxic situation than what already exists. Chiarelli and McLellan are smart men so they should see what problems exist and what needs to be fixed after a full season of evaluation and not have to rely on players to suggest solutions.

I don't think their is a wrong guy that they can trade as long as the return is worth while (except for the guys I listed earlier), because obviously what they have now isn't working so things cant really get any worse.

Katz did say the pocketbook was open, to whatever chiarelli wants.... Hamonic, stamkos, maybe even Burke could be potential incoming players

So you've got problems in the room and you're going to let the players take further control? I don't think you've ever been in the room on a competitive team as that's not how it works. Management knows what happens in the room, they don't need the players to flush out a cancer as they can already see it plain as day. If not they are in the wrong profession.

Easy don't let Carey price's wife get pregnant again lol... Acl injury my azz, no surgery ... What ever happened to the players that played the game broken and beaten.signed very dissapointed Habs fan
For the record stammer won't be wearing an oil jersey, never in a million years, he isn't needed, ditch Ebs, yak, or Hall, and find a puck moving defensive pair. Tough pill to swallow as their few and far behind. I'd move subban to Edmonton. For Hall, and couple of picks or Yak

Agree 100%. This is what I was basically trying to say in my earlier post but I guess I didn't explain it good enough.

Also I really doubt Stamkos would come to Edmonton and he also is not a player of need for the Oilers they have other areas of concern to look at.

To answer the question about how to get Canadian teams in the playoffs. I think the teams with the best chance of making it as of right now is the Habs, Jets and Flames. The Habs just need to add a bit of size and skill up font and have a healthy Carey Price is all they need to get in. The Jets just need to figure out consistency and how to get the young talent all working together. The Flames in my opinion only need a good reliable #1 goaltender and a top 6 right winger and they would be in too. They had a terrible start to the year mostly due to goal tending and some growing pains and learning curves on defense (mostly Hamilton). With a full season of the defense working together and figuring out how to play with each other and an addition of a quality goaltender I think will do wonders (I hope).

I might be in the minority, but I don't think Hall is the problem. See Connor's recent comments regarding Hall. Any team that gets him is getting an elite LW, if we give that up, I don't know. I don't think elite LWs grow on trees either. He's got fantastic possession, carries the puck in well, and has explosive speed.

I'd like to see Eberle moved, and if no deal on Yak, move him up the ladder, as I think he can be an effective RW when playing with actual talent. He's got some chaos to his game, but I think with a real centre would help him a lot.

As far as I'm concerned, you don't move Nuge, Drai or 97. That would get us into a centre depth nightmare - again. That's not cool. We've been there, and it did us no good.

Now that they have some effective goal tending, an actual NHL caliber defense would go pretty far to help this team!

I agree that Hall is not necessarily the problem but he cant be listed as an untradable either. What have the Oilers accomplished since he got here? On a individual level he has shown some promise and proven to be a elite winger, but as a leader that's supposed to bring the group together and rally together hasn't been successful. As I said in one of my earlier post I would be reluctant to trade Hall unless its a blow me out of the water deal as I do think he can be part of the solution. But you have to be open at looking at some harsh decisions when you have missed the playoffs for the last decade and that includes trading away players you don't necessarily want to trade, but only if it makes the team better today and for the future.

Agree wholeheartedly. I do feel that Hall would absolutely be the best return of anyone on the team not named McDavid. I've seen a lot of good from him, a lot more defensive awareness, and a sort of maturity that shows in all facets of his game and even in his interviews etc. His game and his person has grown tremendously since he's been here.

You're right, he hasn't won anything in his career here, but what tools has he been given? You can't pull yourself up by your bootstraps if you don't have any boots!

I would boot Katz, Lowe, MacT and Chiarelli then get a Sutter in the room to run the show. Done.

I don't think Katz would like to be booted away from his own team...

I truly dont care what Katz would like. The Oilers suck donkey balls and it starts at the top. Its not like they haven't got talented players, they need a new driver whipping the team. Hyaaaa mule!!

The current management team is fine , the previous one ( Lowe Mac t ) caused this mess..... I am sure Katz is making money either way.... That's the main reason he acquired the oilers for ... To get property downtown & arena ...
if the teams wins a few more games ... That's gravy!

Also are Lowe and MacT not still management. Like I care. They are bums, year after year.

LA Kings are my new team ever since I met Marty Mcsorley on a plane from YYC to LAX.
