I also think Yakupov has come along way in his ability to out-skate people, and get in to the zone...... he just needs to learn to finish.

As a Flames fan, don't do anything as the state they have been in for the last 10 years is pure enjoyment. But seriously, try to trade almost everyone not named mcdavid. Especially Hall as his give a sh*t level is so low it has to be killing that dressing room.

I am a Flames fan so here is my non biased perspective.

If I was the GM I would look at and consider all potential options to make changes to get better (especially on defense). A trade for Hamonic I think could improve things vastly but still wont be quite enough to push the Oilers to compete for a playoff spot. To make these said changes I would be willing to trade anyone except for McDavid, Talbot, Draisaitl, Maroon, Klefbom, Nurse, and Sekera. Everyone else would be fair game not because they are bad players but they need a culture change and need to flush out the loosing habits and the best way to do that is to get rid of the players that have been a part of the problem for most of the 'rebuild' years. With that being said I would be least hesitant to give up Hall as it would have to be a substantial offer for me to let him go.

I would consider trading their first round pick this year for a massive improvement on defense but it has to be a substantial offer otherwise I would retain the pick and put it towards the culture change plan of bringing in new blood. But if that pick happens to be first overall again (I sure hope not) then I wouldn't even consider trading it unless its an absolute blow me out of the water offer which is unlikely. Having McDavid and Matthews down the middle would be scary for any team to play against similar to the Penguins with Crosby and Malkin.

Lastly I would bring in a good back up to play behind Talbot so that Brossoit can continue to develop and play lots of minutes in the AHL. This will hopefully lead to him being able to compete with Talbot for the starters role for the 17-18 season.

Yeah I guess I kinda forgot about Davidson he has a wicked shot which is needed on the power play. Gryba is a give or take, don't need to get rid of him but can also be easily replaceable if he needs to be traded to complete a deal for a bigger picture. I am not saying that all the players I didn't mention need to be traded, I am just suggesting that they should be looked at for assets to bring in a new culture and help improve areas of need like on defense.

I do think Yakupov really has to go though. Seems to be too much of a high maintenance/privileged player that creates a distraction in the dressing room.

Yak will be gone this summer for sure, it's good that he has been playing better. He's worth more than a bucket of pucks now.

There is something wrong in the dressing room. This team is uncoachable right now and it all boils down to a few.

What they should do, is anonymously ask each team member to state what they think is wrong, who should go and why. The players need to iron this out, but can't because they aren't in control.

A blockbuster trade will happen, mix it up a bit and the new blood will get the oil flowing. If they trade the wrong guys, then the dark cloud will remain overhead.

storm1972, I wouldn't discount trading within the division because when you are in the Oilers position you really have to strongly consider any move that improves the team regardless of the trade partner. But if the Oilers are trading away a player like Hall, Eberle, or Nuge within the division then they will obviously need a premium over teams outside of the division.

I don't think that would go over well asking the players individually on who the problem is. Lots of teammates become good buddies and share lots of information and I can only see that creating a more toxic situation than what already exists. Chiarelli and McLellan are smart men so they should see what problems exist and what needs to be fixed after a full season of evaluation and not have to rely on players to suggest solutions.

I don't think their is a wrong guy that they can trade as long as the return is worth while (except for the guys I listed earlier), because obviously what they have now isn't working so things cant really get any worse.
