I have a buddy with a 2000 RMK that put an 8" bar riser on and now he feels that he could bend/break the steering post very easily. Anybody do anything to them to strengthen them or is there an aftermarket post that is stronger?

Me and Fossy just bought Two posts off Kurt and yes the guy is great to deal with and will make it any way you want it out of chromoly and if you want to reduce the flex and add some strenth, have him fill it with epoxy.

I had my steering post on my 04 RMK VE extended (6 inches). It was re-enforced will with some smaller tubing inside. I believe it was done at mountain magic in Edmonton. BA arranged it for me. It worked really well.

I've had Kurts post in my 2001 RMK mod for 2 years and have rollover rested it a couple of times...It works great. This is the way to go.

Get hold of Wildchild, Riders Edge motor sports Lumby, he makes about the top notch steering posts for the gen II Polaris, great guy to deal with also.

WOW !!!!!

I'm glad I checked this page. I bent mine last year, and I have bent it back. But now it has a weak point, and if I pull too hard to the left, it comes over about a 1/2 inch.
I will be giving Kurt a call.

THANK YOU !!!!!

Another vote for Wildchild posts. I have one in my King, and it feels really solid. I have bought a lot of parts from Kurt, great products, service and price.

The RMK's I've worked on have a 5/8" hole under the handle bars, down the center of the stering shaft. All you need is a piece of cold role to slide down inside till the bend and tack in place. Makes it alot stronger being solid, way cheaper than changing it out with the same or better result. Buy a foot of 5'8"cold role and you will have lots, a fix for a few dollars.
