Is it just me or are others having a hard time selling their old iron>? I updated this year to a PRO and I have had my sled for sale since the end of Aug and not very many bites>? I'm pretty sure I'm not asking to much ($5k)?? As I see similar sleds to mine for the same price but most are basically stock and some even $1000 more then what I am asking. Obviously I would like the most I can get for my sled as it has alot of work and cash put into but I would rather keep it then to sell it for any less then what I am asking. I would like to sell it soon so I can start buying new parts for my new machine. Just looking for some insight, I see over 500 sleds in the edmonton area for sale and very few of them are moving? Is the market for a used sled just not what it used to be, or are people just holding out untel the snow flies?

It's all about price... took me less than a day to sell the wifes 99 670x this week... Everyone else is asking $3200-$3800 for the same sled which is nuts considering you can buy a rev for $4k-ish.. I adveratised at $2650 and she sold...

Gotta remember your sled isn't worth the same to you as it is to others.... the ones that aren't moving is because the prices are unrealistic...

Just saw your sig line, $5K for a 2002 poo... a guy can buy an 07 doo 800 for an extra $500-$700... you never get the price of mods back when you sell...

Just because that is what you see people asking, doesn't mean that is what it is worth, or that they are selling for that price. You see over 500 sleds for sale and none are moving because people are asking way too much money for them.

An '02 RMK, regardless if you have upgraded it or not, is an '02 RMK. If you want it to move, maybe consider lowering the price. $3500 might be a more reasonable price to ask. Even then, you may have people offering less.

I sold an 08 XPX 800 154" with electric start and a lot of extras for $6300. So I'm thinking you are trying to sell an 02 and asking only $1300 less than a machine that was 6 years newer.

As stated above, if the price is right in the eye of the beholder, it will sell!

Just sold my 08 Dragon for $6200, there are over 900 sleds for sale on Kijiji Edmonton. You might have a nice sled, but that's the reality!

Just trying to help here. I sold a '03 800 Vertical Escape with SLP twins etc in mint condition back in the summer of 2007 for $5500.00. I'd have to agree that you are likely looking at around the $3500.00 mark if you want to move it quick.

Try asking your dealer what clean bluebook resale is. Tell him you are trying to sell it not trade it and you probably will get a more honest price out of him. Lol.

if you have some of the stock parts left, you may be better off putting them back on selling the sled for less. Then turn around and sell the accessories and you could get your total back up around the $5000 mark.

Personally, I'd try to steer clear of older sleds with mods. Makes me think the owner was running the bag off the thing, trying to get newer sled performance and it's likely cooked. No matter what you put into mods you'll never get it back. $5000 is way too much for that sled.

is the '02 your very first sled? remember all the good times you had on it, and try to put a price on that. drop the price a few grand, take your lumps, and give someone else a decent "in" to a sport that will surely hook them as it has you.

Wait for snow, and less flood on the market. I've got 2 sleds of a similar vintage, and I'll only be asking $5500 for both when the snow flies, cuz I want them gone!!

Good thread. I have sold a few sleds mine and friends sleds for them and never had a problem but have never made a fortune on a used sled. When you look on this site or on kijiji to compare take a look at how long the add has been on. Just because 3 similar sleds are worth $5000 does not mean list yours for 5k, If you want to sell list low and hold your price as firm. Low price will get someones attention, if you get them to look at it make SURE ITS CLEAN!! AND RUNS!! Don't be pulling it out of the shed after summer when they get there. i sold my 05 900rmk and lets just say there was a few for sale in fall 0f 2008. 6 05's were listed for 6300 to 7k I listed for 5400 and had more then 50 calls that night and had a deposit that night but did not move on my price. Maybe I could of got more but maybe not at least it was gone and I had some cash in my hand. Your crap is not always someone elses fortune. Good luck selling
oh ya also don't call it mint when it's not!! nothing pisses a guy off more when he shows up and its all beat up. call it what it is...

As mentioned above, good thread. I'll be perfectly honest with you, I keep my equipment in flawless condition, but that doesn't make it worth more than the market will bear. As an example, you can buy a new, non current 09 M1000 Sno-Pro 162 for under $10,500, tax in, zero miles. I know that my 07 with a ton of aftermarket accessories is worth $6000 max, so when I decide to upgrade, I'll either keep it as a spare, or part it out. I've sold lots of iron for half of new that were only 2-3 yrs old over the years, you have to be realistic when you price stuff to sell - if you want to sell it. A blue book value on a 2006 M7 is $3000. They were a good sled, and are worth 3-4000 if you find one in great shape. Most are listed for 5000 and up - the owner will have that sled for awhile, considering the flood of non current iron, and abundance of used out there. Good luck selling your sled.

called supply and demand, until the snow flies there is a lot of supply.

Personally I have found September and October the best time to sell used sleds but again thats just my opinion. In the past 2 weeks I sold a 96 venture 600 and a 99 700RMK.
