how often to change oil?

How often do you guys change your oil? i have a kodiak 450.

Oil is cheap compared to new piston and jug. Change it often. I change mine every 500 klm. as I ride alot.

Geez tough to tell I change mine every few rides probably 500-700KM only cost about $15 if you not using "Dealer" oil and "Dealer" filter and 15 minutes time. But if you paying the dealer to do it check what the owners manual says

at least twice times a year... i dont always change the filter so its a 3min oil change for me.

Annually at the very least, oil, filter, plug and air filter clean etc. I don't ride 500km in a year either though. At least not the last couple

For me that's 3 to 4 times a year

Currently pre mixing @ 40:1. My machine gets fresh oil everytime the piston goes up.

You can't change it to often. But I'm going to need a new piston and jug soon, as it smokes a lot at the beginning for a minute then goes away and has low compression. Take it from me, if you have water go in to the intake, drain the oil Now, or you will pay later, where did I put that money tree.

I almost do the same. Oil every 3 or 4 rides, check the diffs. If I have water in them I change them otherwise I change them twice a year with the oil filter and clean the air filter.

on my KTM sxf 250 I change the oil every 3 tanks of gas and the filter gets cleaned every 2 rides.

i change mine once a year and it still comes out nice and clear after pulling on about 1000k

if you are running some high preformance beast with racing fuel ya every ride

its just a waste of time changing the oil every 3 rides if you have a stock machine

Changed mine today, 2nd oil change for the "beast"( 2008 Honda 420ES). First one was done at 100 kms at the shop where I bought it (regular ATV oil) and this one done by me at home. Have only about 700kms on it and made the jump to syn. oil. Put in 0W40 Amsoil ATV Oil.

Does running syn. oil help any ?? More power ?? Quieter motor ?? Better shifting ?? Anything else ??

I like to look after my stuff so want to do what is best !! Thanks
