How is everyone hooking up their sled deck lights?

So I have a classic marathon 8 foot deck that has recently given me lighting issues. Long story short I'm going to redo the wiring. Instead of tapping into the running lights on my brake light harness I was thinking of building a harness to plug into the 4 way trailer plug. It would make things easier/cleaner to remove if I had to pull the deck off the truck. The truck is a 2012 ram 3500 btw. So I'm curious to see how others are running their deck setups?

I've got wires coming out of my left tail light with a 2 prong plug that I plug my deck into.

I put the optional Dodge 7-way inside the bed on the left rear, fast and easy hookups now, both Dodge and the aftermarket have versions of this.

I did the same thing as well when I ran a deck. Used one of these trailer connectors and spliced one end to truck running lights in tail light. Made it quick to disconnect. Just make sure to tape the end up when disconnected. It will blow fuse if grounded out.

I am not sure if I am following your question. To plug my Cross-Trax in to my truck I use the trailer plug on my bumper, I went to Gregg's and got a 4 pin adapter (I think) and then plug the 2 pin from the deck to the adapter.
All I know is my running lights work. LOL.

Mine plugs into the 7 way i use for my fifth wheel inside the bed. Nice and clean.

I have a 7 pin hookup in my box for a 5th wheel so I swap the wiring ends on my deck to 7 pin and plug into that.

From reese, plug and play. no cutting into stock wiring harness, i have one to put on my truck. good quality.

Lights i am using are

3/4" clearance lights, single LED. No worrying about grounds getting corrosion when they are all soldered connections with adhesive heat shrink. Plus easy to pop out and replace.

Yes that's what hes asking, where you wired it from. Seen guys wire into the license plate lights or the taillights, or into the trailer plug adapter, all have been already mentioned above. I hard wired into the taillights, best solution IMO unless you already have a plug in the bed for the 5th wheel. The trailer connection at the license plate always seems to get corroded over time and there is risk you can break the connection off, going into the taillight housing keeps the road grime off the connections etc. also wired a switch in for my under deck light by grabbing power there.

i tapped of the tail light wires with a 2 pron connector as shown in above post,but i also put a connector there with wires and and lights on a little hook which i attatch to sled bumper so cops dont complain about length of sled overhang without lights,when not hauling a sled the lights hang on leg of sled deck,have had no issues in 5 years

Some GMC and Chevys will have trailer wiring bundled up on the frame rail in between the box and cab on drivers side. I ran the wire through the stake pocket with a quick connect plug like the one shown on previous page.

Yes if u have the camper wires, use them

Drill a hole in Juanita's box, run wires through a grommet to the deck wiring with loom and 2 wire plug. Stays up and out of the goo, and makes for a handy place to tie in other things if needed.

That's what all those wires are for, never really looked into what they do just see a big bundle under there. I just used a 4 pin flat for my trailer, hooked into the tail lights.
