How do you guys sell your used stuff?

Wondering if You show the used vehicle in your shop or take it some where? Being its cold out, in a parkinglot showing a sled is not ideal.

We have sold before, and have purchased in a shop before but im thinking maybe theres some low life's that would come check the situation out and come back later to steal what you got?

Maybe im just over worrying but i had someone go threw my garage friday, they lucked out cause the man door and wifes car were unlocked but only took her satellite radio. No tools, sled belts, sleds, nothing else. So now im making sure garage is locked every night and i locked my gates too.

My advice is weed the scumbags out before letting anyone come to your place. Never disclose your location until you've got a comitted buyer with lots of communication and a good comfort level.

Emailing high quality digital photos can pretty well verify anything prior to agreement on sale. And even though Kijiji asks for an address DO NOT put your real address there for public to view, I got surprised by this last year after a dude showed up at my doorstep 2 days after I turned down his offer.

It's a concern for sure, not just getting ripped off but look at that poor guy in Ontario who got killed for his truck recently.

Yah good thinking. I got a guy interested and i facebook checked his name and i know everything about him. But yah, maybe ill ask a few more questions before i give out my address next time.

I do the same. Usually meet at a Tim Hortons. Get two birds with one stone

i sold a sled in a parking lot. then dropped it off for them. They were a little apprehensive when i said ill meet you at walmarts parking lot but the only reason i did this was i was driving through the city, i didnt live in it. They were shocked when i unloaded the sled by myself pulling it out till the skis were on the tailgate and then pulled real quick with it dropping to the ground, ha sleds have suspension.

It was prince albert..... he was darker skinned if you know what i mean. It was a 2000 xc sp 700 with 6000+ miles on it for $2500 In 2008. haha

Posting pictures of your yours to show your hard work is free food for thieves. They get to eye up what is in the background of your photos.

I hear yea man. You know I just got back sledding from Revy to discover some A-hole that works or worked for my Dad,, who had keys to our shop steal 10,000 in equipment. Happy Remembrance day yahoo. Guess time for security camera's. What are you gonna do tho? stop living your life cause there is scum bags out there? Not this guy. I still trust in humanity,, maybe I'm a fool.....

Trucks, sleds, parkas, tires, trailers, wall tent, etc.. I'm far enough of the beaten path that I don't worry too much about the Kijiji dudes (so far at least)....

Actually excellent point there about posting pics with background info that can be used against you. Like which house is yours or what else is in your garage etc.

I take pics in the driveway, try and weed out idiots ahead of time and usually will let people come to the house... I won't buy something out of a parking lot, it just screams of stolen property!! If it's one of my toys you're not driving it, I'll tell you if it's hard to shift at such rpm into such gear. I guess it depends on the situation, if there was something from outta town I'd probably make exceptions on the parking lot thing unless you're making me drive all the way to where you live then won't let me see the house, makes me think something is up! I also am someone who thinks there's still good in humanity, and karmas a bitch!

I have always sold stuff right from my house, pics in the driveway or garage depending on the season. I know when I am looking to buy something I would like to go to the sellers place so you can get a general idea of how they take care of their stuff. Then if he tells me he rebuilt it all himself and his toolbox is the size of my lunch pail, I know to walk away.

Going to buy at a guys house don't guarantee anything really, I know of a extremely hot sled that was sitting in Red Deer Motorsport's showroom... And it sold!!
