I'm wondering how many thieves are being tipped off by a hotel employee when a nice rig rolls in?

Its been my experience that locks and gates only keep out honest people... if someone wants your stuff bad enough they will steal it... its unfortunate but true... keep your insurance on and get your trucks equipped with immobilizers... my neighbour's HD superduty has been stolen a couple of times, but he has a tracker in it, so he goes and gets it back... he says he doesn't even really feel like calling the RCMP anymore as they dont seem to do anything about it... he just goes and picks it up...

The bait truck idea is awesome... but stick the tracker in it and let them get the stuff home so we can recover more stuff and see how organized these people are... that would be the best... and once that hit the papers it may slow down some of these thieves...

I agree that Hotels should provide this service for free. On a trip to Kamloops my wifes car got broken into inside a secure underground parking, that the hotel provides. She even parked in a lit area where a camera was focussed on her car. Where was the Hotel security that day??? If we are going to be staying at these places business should be guaranteeing our safety and the safety of out property. Especially with the amount of revenue that is generated by a single sledder staying a weekend in a hotel room. Would say on average a weekend can run well over $1000 some times by the time you include hotel food from their restaurant and of course pops. Dont forget about the free publicity good or bad. Yes we stayed there was nice and secure, or dont even bother with that place they stole everything.

if no one watches the camera, it's not security.

suggestion everytime we book or call for hotel rooms maybe we should ask what they have done to provide security for our equipment and ourselves., this may be the easy way to get some response. may ask to speak to manager on this.
