Hot water tank

My Jayco trailers hotwater tank decided not to get hot. I run it on propane and is located just below the fridge which works great. The stove that is right beside them works great too. the water is luke warm. Any thoughts before I call in a repair guy?

is the thermostat turned up? Can you make it fire if you set control way high?

Can you provide more info on the issue? im assuming its a newer electric/gas water heater. Does the DSI kick in to fire up the burner? If it does, does the flame go out right away?

Does it work on electric?

It's a 2007. It does fire up but doesn't heat the water up enough. It worked great last year

How does the flame sound? Is it firing hard or lazy. Any chance of an obstruction in the heat exchanger like a nest?

check the little air vent on the pipe that goes into the tank the screw could have rusted off and is closed it is adjustable and changes the flame from red to blue

Sounds the same when I forgot to close the hot water bypass valve one year after I opened the shut off valves.

Make sure the bypass valve is closed fully or it will mix the cold and hot water.

One of our trailers. years ago the furnace was not really warm.

We had a guy. RV mobile come to check it. First he blew out all appliances and ton of rust and crap came out.

Next disconnected all propane lines.
Spayed brake clean in them. Then blew them out. I was shocked at how much oil came out and it stunk too.

The lines collected the oily mercaptan causing low flow of propane.

Fixed the problem. According to the guy who came out this is a common problem.

this is why you should "drain" your propane lines every fall when you park your RV..... I start stove, and then turn off propane bottles, leave stove on low until it's burnt all the gas out of the lines....... make sure you turn stove off before next season or entire inside of trailer has bad propane smell.

It that a Suburban brand? Mine gets hot and shuts off but does not re-fire until it is way too cold. I suspect the t-stat sensor is not in close contact with the tank to transfer the heat properly. I cannot find an adjustment to turn it up either. It looks like a big job to take it apart. Someone also mentioned the bypass being left open, I have had broken valves that feel like they are closing but they are not.

I have never heard about draining the propane lines. I will in the fall that's for sure

Thats odd about the propane lines. Never heard of that. Wouldn’t that happen to the propane tanks as well???

I finally made it out to the camp the other day. After looking over the system it turns out that it was my mistake. When i took the trailer out of storage and flushed the water system I opened up the two valves on the back of the tank but didn't close the third valve. oops. As soon as I closed the valve I had hot water. thanks for all the advise everyone
