homemade turbo

im looking at turboing my 2007 polaris 600 rmk 155 this winter but i dont want to spend the $6000. i was looking at homemade ones but i dont quite know how can anyone please give me some advise on making this kit.

its not an adventure you want to take on if you have no experience with it. theres alot to it. not saying you shouldnt try but just be aware it may be worth the coin. you can get pump gas turbos for WAY less than 6000 not sure where you got that price from.

but consider moving to an 800 first? you wont be that far ahead of the game running a pump gas turbo on a 600..

there are tons of people who can lead you in the correct direction on here including myself.

but by the time you add up all the parts and peices along with the small items you dont consider you arent going to be much cheaper than a kit that someone has already put R and D into.

i have seen kits for 2800-3500 for the polaris machines. but not sure if you were considering a race or pump setup?

my dad wont let me on an 800 so i was thinking turbo. my dad said it would be a good project for me to research and build for over the summer. pump set up

For once i have to agree with LHF. Get a louder pipe kid, it will make your sled feel a little quicker at least. Refer to the wich can is louder thread, there are some good pointers on there.

second thing - sounds like you are young and ambitious, how old are you?

I'll tell you right now, you will not be any farther ahead trying to build your own kit if you have no experience with it. We have been down this road with 100 people just like you before. Don't look on EBay and think that because you can buy a turbo for $200 that this is going to be a cheap adventure. Expect that you will still pay $5000 in the end and not have a running sled, which is likely what will happen. Not trying to dash your dreams, just giving you a reality check. Ride your sled for what it's worth, and worry about building a turbo sled when you can afford to do it right.

why not try nitrous cheap, compared to turbo, and easy. just the way we like it.

I agree. Seen to many "homeade" kits NOT work. There is a reason why these kits cost what they do. It's called KNOWING THAT MY SLED WILL RUN WHEN I PUT IT ON. If you can afford to buy a whole kit, DO IT. if not, dont shortcut it. It will never pay in the end IMO

i liked doing stuff my own way and trying it even when i was young. but take the advice givin here. heck i make 100k a year and don't have to many bills but still feared the costs of running a turbo on my sled.

piping 50-100
welding it up ?
clamps
hoses
BOV
oil supply
oil tank
power jets
guages
getting it to run right via power jets could cost you a motor or two in tuning.

i have a complete 600 HO carbed setup from highmark recration for sale. It was a $6,000 kit like you said and it has some extras.

I am not mechanically competent to keep it in tune so I pulled it and installed a big bore kit. I am selling the turbo set up to cover the cost of the big bore so it is a bargain.

i wish it was that easy

my setup is designed specifically for this sled and there are 100 proven setups from people using it. Even then, you run the risk of birthing pains.

Bleeding edge technology is not always the greatest.
