You think it's smoky there, you should try bein in centarl BC. It's so smoky here today i cant even see lucielle mtn at all, and it isnt very far from the shop at all. It's like a 5min drive from the shop to the parking lot. Some massive fire's burning in central BC, there a few of the fires that are over 20,000hectares in size each.

Come on guys, suck it up or we might be calling someone "princess".....just saying....

Surely every summer there is forest fire smoke over a lot of western Canada. Be thankful there aren't hot embers coming with it.....then you could complain!!

This is a pic of the binta lake fire, which is south of burns lake. This fire size is over 25,000hectares now. (25,000 is equal to 250 square kilometers)

We are just drove back from a camping trip to Takysie Lake which is a ferry ride across Francois Lake and 44kms south of Burns Lake. The Binta Lake fire is burning at the end of the lake where we were camping with our family and was unbelievable to watch. With dry-as-tinder conditions and steady hot temperatures for the last few weeks, the fire is out of control. Fire crews staged out of our campground 24/7 and they are tired and frustrated, to say the least.

On the first day, you could see two distinct fires burning on either side of a mountainous knob. By day two, the fires had joined in the middle and the smoke and ash were falling steadily. Days three and four, we couldn't even see the end of the lake and waited to be told that the ferry service was being interrupted due to low visibility. Thankfully, that never happened.

We did take the quad and bike out to check it out and found the monstrous fire just 8 kms north and 10kms east, close to the road and nearly between our camp and the ferry. We left the next day. Since then, several households and villages in the area have been evacuated, as well as a mining operation... My relatives in the logging industry are fighting fires with their machinery and/ or waiting to be told it's just too dry to haul logs anymore. Even as we drove through Prince George, Mcbride and Jasper we could not see the peaks beside the highway. At home in Rimbey the story is the same. :( Pretty crazy stuff ....
