Been using these for many years as my dad makes them. Use them for deer, moose and elk. Very slick.

How high from the ground? Looks like square tubing. How did he get it to swivel? Also looks like he wanted the hook on top for pulling easier. Just easier the way it is? thanks for the pics. Also is it only in receiver hitch? I was going in that direction but thought a hanging moose would make short work of it.

Yes it is tubing and then the swivel extension section has round tubing that slides into the square tubing. I believe they are a 4 foot section and a 5 foot section and then about a 3 foot extension. The hook on the back is for tie down straps to anchor in the box when skinning elk or moose. This picture shows it with the extension in it which I generally do not use for deer as it is not needed. Hope that helps.

I bought one of these units from cabelas this summer for loading my generator into the back of my truck works great! If i remember right it was $175.

Those ones are ok but are built very cheap from what I have seen. Fine for a small deer but nothing bigger.

They are rated for 300lbs. A 300 lb field dressed deer would be a pretty good size.

I use my back and for the bigger game I use a come along mounted close to the cab of the truck. If my son is with me he a big kid so he just grabs one side and I grab the other and throw the deer in the back. I also get a stick and wedge it in the rib cage to get the air moving in there.

To cool the carcass down as soon as possible so you don't spoil the meat.
