I've never ridden Grande Cache. Any information about trails and passess would be appreciated....i.e. Maps, where to stay, difficulty etc.... I've searched for a Grande Cache sled club but no info so far.... Thank you,

That is because we do not have a sled club, or any formal information on local sledding.
Typically we just don't get enough snow to bother with aside from some ditch bangin'. Most of us head to BC for quality riding.

I agree with danbot. Now and then there's some good snow after a storm. Have not had another dump since November. I know I'm praying for more in either valemount or mcbride

Snow years here are hit and miss. 2012-2013 Winter was a great snow year. Of course we bought our Quads Jan. 2013, and once you started gaining any elevation, snow got too deep to go anywhere. Last year we got next to nothing for snow. bare ground most of the winter. There are no clubs here, no trail passes, no trail maintenance either. We do have a decent snow belt towards Hinton though. Starts about 30 from Grande Cache, and continues on towards the Berland River. In that belt, the best trail I know of is into A La Peche lake. Approx 30 in from the Hwy. You can carry on past the lake, but you have to be careful as the trail goes through Wilmore Park, and any motorized vehicles in there is a huge no no.

Another area is around Huckleberry tower fire look out station. Numerous cutlines in there for riding. Zero maintenance there again, could very well have a tree blocking your route.

I haven't been up the farther end of the Beaverdam road in the winter yet, but it goes, and goes, and goes. Snow can get very skinny to non existent in the Sheep Creek valley. Caw ridge is up that way. I've never been up there, one of those someday trips that just hasn't happened yet, but there is supposed to be some decent Alpine riding in there. Even had an Avalanche back in there somewhere a few years ago.

Most of our mountain tops are innacessable. Grande Mountain, Mount Hamel, and Ambler mountain have trails to the top, but they get windswept pretty bad. There is more snow below tree line than above it.

There are trap lines all over the area, so giving some respect to them goes without saying.
