Speed wins races. Fawk all to do with torque or horse power. If one guy finishes the race faster but lost it means they didn't leave at the same time.
At the risk of turning this into a meaningful discussion, no. You can win a drag race with a slower trap speed if you accelerate faster out of the hole. It's the same reason you can see a guy run a 12.00 sec pass at 110 mph or a 12.00 at 125 mph. If they were lined up next to each other they would have tied but one guy crossed the line going faster. It means the guy that ran it at 110 mph has a car that accelerates better probably due to traction.

Torque wins the race not horsepower.
And the winner is:

Speed is the distance traveled in a certain amount of time so if the both ran 12sec they both. means they went the same speed from point A to B. To getter a better time and do it faster you got to speed it up.

But if there is one thing we all can agree on is that we all know the wedge lost..... Has no horse power, torque, or speed

You're talking average speed so yes but in drag racing trap speed is measured not average speed.

I think you must be talking about this article from American Snowmobiler where ski-doo accelerated faster but Polaris takes the win, again. Gearing and traction are the reason.
