got it...no thanks to you guys...lol
Wasn't that hard was it?
Probably didn't have to get in a panic, did you?
no...no I did not..lol. I thought it was gonna be really difficult for some reason. But this is as far as I could get them. How do I get them off these?!
You need to compress the springs then remove the top plate once you have the tension off of them. There is a method using ratchet straps to compress the springs but it is not very safe. I would recommend going to Princess auto and pick up a set of spring compressors.

Rowdy,
Probably a dumb question...for those that know me! LOL! Why are you removing the springs? Can you run without the springs?
John
If you feel like the Hulk then you can take the top of the shock and grab the spring as close to the spring caps as you can so that you can push the caps off with your thumbs. and put the top part of the shock against your stomach or chest and pull on the spring and use thumbs fingers to pop caps off.:d My method haha!
I will try the ratchet...if all else fails I'm gonna head to a dealer and see if they can do it. I'm not so much the HULK. And as far as putting it between my legs...can ya say OW! lol
LMAO you guys are crazy, Do it by Hand, Makesure you have it in the softest setting. If you look on the shock shaft, there should be a little black rubber slide that right up to your shock body or it will get in the way of the Spring caps IE.the Silver parts. line the 2 discs up so there is one slot.
Then you can either put your shock again the floor and push down on the spring and have a buddypop your spring caps off there are 2 disks.

This is the way... Put the shock end on the floor and push the spring cap down with two hands. Tilt it away from the shaft through the opening in the cap.
Buy new springs anyway, that sled has enough miles. Plus you could look at some better shocks too. Those ones suuuuuuuuuck.
Getting them powder coated.
