Hey all...

I need to tap into an accessory power supply (key on/off) under the dash of a 2007 Silverado 2500HD LBZ.

The asshats who installed the remote start left a mess of wire and tape that I've cleaned up but I'm having a heck of a time finding a simple fused acc power source.

Anyone out there know of an easy way to get this power, wire color...where I can find it? I plan on using a tap on crimp connector.

The device I'm powering is very low amp.

Thanks in advance,

Todd.

PS> The first recommendation that works gets $500,000 Casino bucks!!!:d:beer:

did you try an open connection at the distribution box? should have a black plastic cover on it just above your left foot as you're sitting in the truck. use a test light and there should be a couple ignition switched pwr sources there.

I found that box last evening and am trying to find the pin out diagram for it...no luck so far. It might be hard to connect to as it take GM type harness plugs.

I just used female spade connectors, and squash them a bit so they slide over the pins, then bend the wire flat so the cover will fit over. just have to find a pin with ign power.

Pop off the cover where your fuses are. with the Key off take a test light and on the Flat spade style fuses there are two little testing points right on the back of Fuse on both sides where it says the amp rating. 10/15 20 30 etc. Go down the fuse block untill you find one that only has power on the one side with the key off. Remember which side has no power. Now turn the key on. Now both sides of the fuse should light the test light. Turn the key off. Pull the fuse and Jam the wire in the side that had no power when the key is off and replace the fuse so the wire and the fuse are in the same Terminal. The smaller the wire the easier it is to stuff them together. The plus with doing it this way is now whatever you splice into this connection will also be protected by the same fuse.

I did the same when i powered up the tv's in the head rest, i think it's terminal #7 in the fuse box but i will have to confirm that tonite if you find one before hand.

That is also how you get power for tuners such as the H&S blackmaxx.

According the install instructions from their website they use fuse number 45 on the 07-10 gmc/chev

I searched the electrical thouroughly to find the power that keeps your stereo on for 20 mins after you shut the key off to no avail. wanted to keep my stereo amp powered when the key was off for that 20 mins. also searched some forums and apparently the only possible spot to tap into is a wire that goes to the switch in your door that shuts the power off when you open it. didn't feel like tearin the door apart so I didn't do it. I believe that is the RAP circuit, called Retained Accessory Power.
