woke up this am after a 14 hour drive... my truck always threw a drop or two of oil from the seal around the oil pan but this is bad... probably about two cups of oil on the ground... all over the front stabalizer bar looks like it's coming from the area near the fan belt... any ideas? If so how much to fix? The frame near the pass front wheel looks like it was sprayed in oil... im running sysnthetic winter oil still not sure if that would pour out faster???...I was told a while back my main seal needed to be replaced... may as well do them all... next question who's good with these vehicles between edm and Peace River

How many Kms? Chances are your front crank seal finally gave up the ghost. It could be your gear case gasket too but more than likely its the crank seal. Summitric on here runs a good shop out of Sherwood park. He'd be able to get it sorted out.

Do you still have the stock puke bottle on your front timing case cover?I changed my front seal last summer
with minimal tools,it wasn't a big deal at all.Another place I was leaking was between the block and the timing
case ass. bolted to the front of the block.I bought a new gasket from cummins, but didnt realize that the whole
front assembly of the engine had to be removed to change that gasket.
I just cleaned it up the best I could and put gasket maker(501 I think) in the crack between the block and the
timing case gear cover.Worked awsome,I dont have a single leak now besides the rear main seal.

Also check vac pump seals however the vac pump is on the opposite side. For passenger side check oil filter, turbo feed /drain line.

Also make sure it's engine oil and not diff oil. For reasons unknown to man they will somtimes puke up the vent hose of the front diff which happens to be on that side.

Thanks guys... the truck just turned 300k on the way home... its always had oil around the oil pan i never fixed it as i hear on my truck it's a big job... The blow off hose has been cut to short so some oil that use to accumulate in that can now leaks to the ground... this sprayed everywhere... hard to see exactly where it's coming from but its up high on the front... so much oil ran out its on the inside of the passenger front tire.

Summitric i'd take it to you if I thought it would make the trip... but im afraid to drive it too far... my luck i'll bake the engine...

Summitric... your right... it looks like the crank case/timeing cover that's leaking... just went out and turned on the truck... ran it a few RMP higher then normal and it just poured out at the crank/timing cover..... for lack of better term it looks like where aluminum meets the block... i didn't think that area was under presure could it be a loose screw?

That almost sounds like a crack caused by a KDP but your '02 shouldn't be effected by this known problem on earlier engines.

Do a quick search for "killer dowel pin"

FML... somedays... i just turned down a standing offer for 8k on this truck... bought the family an f150 4 door to run around in and was going to keep this one for me and my boys for the fun stuff...

That's the area she was leaking from and i was thinking to myself it shouldn't be that bad as it isnt under pressure...

Thanks for the heads up guys... i was on moparman the other day and didn't figure to affect my year of dodge... but after reading this i did more looking around and 2002 have been affected... not many but....

I have a 1994 cummins in mint shape with 94k on it... grand pa gave it to me... only problem is it hasn't been started in 5 years... its in a heated garage in Vancouver... its regular cab long box with and automatic tranny... i was going to sell that truck... fix my rust and keep my 2002... maybe now ill be sporting an old 12 valve automatic... or do an engine flop...
