Not looking to get the young guys in trouble, but WOW. I stopped and chatted with the guy on the bike as he saw me pull over to snap the pictures. I have ridden bikes, quads and snowmobiles for 20years, and always wear a helmet. I know that they save lives due to what I have experienced in my professional life. If you see young riders doing stuff like this I recommend having a conversation about the benefits to preventing head injuries. They even said they were wearing them until the unexperienced guy on the back of the quad came over.

He did say that helmets aren't required on private property, but the ditch isn't private property.

Uh-oh. You're gonna start a conflict with the people who don't think anyone should tell them what to do, and it's their right to risk serious brain injury or death because it's their head. (FYI, I agree totally with you about helmets, but many don't!!)

I have a 7 year old that is more responsible than these people that don't wear helmets are. She puts hers on before she even gets on. If these people that dont wear helmets don't care about their lives... how about the ones around them family and friends that may have to deal with their death or brain injury... They are going to look real cool riding in their wheelchair drooling all over themselves because they we to cool or to lazy to get a helmet. But it will give them lots of time to think

Yes I agree, - I have been camping the last 3-4 weekends as most have and I have noticed a lot of off road enthusiasts that are not wearing helmets, just a heads up it is the law, and you could receive a fine of 155.00 for not wearing one as well as a fine of 93.00 for not wearing a csa compliant one - no one likes to be told what to do , but lets set an example for our kids and grandkids. This is the same penalty as riding a motorcycle without a helmet. You can usually purchase a helmet from 65.00 and up from us (of course) or other shops. If you get a ticket you
still have to buy a helmet. Be safe out there , help present a positive image for off road recreation, and promote safe off roading !!!

Remember you can break an arm or leg ,this can be treated & heal a broken head not so much , or stick to the face.... its not just you to be
concerned about, it could be others around you... that cause you to crash or crash into you.....

be safe,,,live long !!

Always wear a helmet. Buddy of mine went back east to visit his folks a couple weeks ago. Jumped on his bros quad for a quick rip, fell off and struck his head on a rock and cracked his skull. Wasn't doing good at all but slowly making a turn for the better the past couple days. Now tha family has to figure out long term as he's going to be stuck back there in hospital for quite sometime. Not sure what that's going to do for his job outbhere and his bills? It can happen that fast guys. Not worth the risk IMO

There are actually four other approvals besides CSA that meet the required standard for ATV helmets in Alberta.

i can see young children new to the sport wearing a neck brace since they are not used to the weight of the helmet. Most people just go out and buy any helmet for their kids even a few sizes to big to make them last a few years. I buy good light helmets for my little one then i sell em off cheap so some other little kid can enjoy the sport iv actually given a few away.

"vehicles designed for use on a roadway and has seat belts" their is the catch right their. SXS are not designed for roadway use.. few other statements i do not agree with above but thats a whole new can of worms.. As far as im concerned helmets should be on at all times. you can get injured at 5km or at 50km

Hit a tree at high speed while skiing...broke the shell of the helmet and major deformation of the ridged foam.

Damage to me was bad enough as it was...I would have been screwed if I was without a helmet.

I always wear a helmet while skiing, biking, dirt biking and sledding.
