I have the one that comes with the tackle box full of goodies for mounting and different length cables etc, cant remember the name of it right now, but the quality of the video is quite good, only downside I found is you have a separate mic for audio and a separate battery pack to power the camera then you have the recording device which is like an mp3 player, it has video/audio playback right on the 2.5" screen, it has an mp3 player and a couple other things built in. The beauty of it is on a 2gb SD card I can leave the thing recording all day, ( just remember the thing is on when you stop to water the bushes and look down to see your name writing in the snow) The flaws are way too many cables and things to carry on your person.

Like already stated, it depends on what you plan on doing with your footage(maybe you said it and I missed it). A lot of the cheaper self contained units capture the video in 640x480 on their highest setting. If its just for interent or on a standard tv it will be ok.

Vio sport is the way to go if you have the cake. Just my 2 cents.

I picked up one of them hero units. Cool idea but waste of 180 bones. Did some testing with it on my quad. Not very good even by you tube standards. Stay away from this one.

Get a hold of Matt from sledjunkies.com. He had the Viospaort pov last year. He liked it but there were a few issues just can`t remember what they were.

Good luck.

Stirring up a old post. Going to buy another helmet cam. Hopfully one that I can get to work.

Anyway going to spend $3-400.00MAX Which one do you guys think is the best way to go.
The Oregon Scientific ATC-2K @ $130-$150 seems pretty good as you don't have worry to much about it.

But if the VHOLDR @ $420 is not bad ether with no wires to worry about it seems pretty simple to use.

Also the MotoComm Recorder & MP3 - DSR-100. @ $350ish seems like a good unit as well.

If anyone has one of these units, any feed back is appreciated. Please keep in mind all I want to do is play back some crashes for the boys and girls back home. I'm not filming "OVERKILL THUNDER STUCK" the uncut version. Thanks

never heard of the motocomm unit, but looks not to bad for the price. i've used the Oregon Scientific and it's ok for what you're looking for, but the batteries die waaay to quick and the sound is super crappy (to much wind noise). I would think the motocomm batteries would last a bit longer with it being a seperate battery pack you could keep it in your jacket and keep them warm. never seen or heard the VHOLDR, sounds like it's ok from reviews, but if i was buy one i'd try the motocomm i think, at least it's multi purpose as well, mp3's etc. my.02

I was kind of leaning towards the mottocom, but the VHOLDR looks cool if you can change out the cards and being wireless is a plus. But wondering if the VHOLDR will frezze up? Anyone use one in the mountains?

I Have the Motocomm and it works really well. One of my riding buddy's has the v-hold and it works well too but does not have the video quality of the Motocomm and the mic sucks on it. Check out my videos in the S&M Tube if you like.

I have a POV-!. They are awesome.... Great video quality and sound is good too. They are pricey though. The units that have batteries internally, the batteries will not last long in the cold. The other disadvantage of the cabless units is if you have a wipeout you have a greater risk of loosing these style of cameras. Having an separate battery supply and recording device, is the way to go. You keep the unit warm, dry, and relatively protected. JMO.

I just orderd the pov.1 yesterday. Put rush shipping on it for this weekends ride, snow permmiting. Will let you all know how it worked. seems like the best one on the market. hopefully you get what you pay for.

I liked the looks of the POV but if I lose the Mottocom I will be choked but I think I'll get over it. But at double the price I'm sure its better but if I lost it I'd jump off the cliff.....or my wife would push me off!!!

used the pov.1 with wide angle on the trail down at the end of the day. under low light coditions it worked very good. unit seems very durable with everything sealed good. also very easy to use. filmed about 15 minutes on 1gb card and was still not full. quality is definetly worth the bucks. will be buying a second unit soon.

My Mottocom DSR-100 showed up today, looks great but I'm not sure I like the helmet mount on the side of your face. I'd perfer top mount. What is the norm, my shoulders are bulky thats the reason I'd like it up top. Plus I'm not cool with drilling holes in my $500 helmet, but have done dummer things.
Does anyone have a source for a stick on cam mount?

RKnight what did you do for wiring up a battery pack as mentioned above? Wiring diagrams would be a plus..Thanks
