You're body will hold up to being a millwright for a lot longer. A lot easier on the body.

I'm starting my apprenticeship in the next couple weeks.

Both trades have plenty of work in this end of the world. I can't speak for the Millwrights too much but my uncle is contracting up in Fort Mac and its treating him really well.

Being a HD tech is hard on the body but if you keep physically active outside of work and know your limits (IE don't try to be a hero and lift stupid heavy parts by yourself) it definitely helps.

I'm a millwright! I love it! Good work good money! Work on all kinds of equipment, conveyors, gearboxes pumps etc... Not so much on big trucks, engines and such. I've worked with HDs, mechanically inclined! They likely make the same kinda cash.
Always looking for help!

Right I'm at nait for my second year of schooling and so far I love it. Millwrights get to work on so much different things it's almost overwhelming at times, but that's why i love it. You learn a bit about several trades like machining and welding. Sometimes it sucks being stuck in an oily conveyor trying to replace a hydraulic cylinder dripping oil all over you in the dead of winter but that's life. I'm sure hd mechanic is good too but for me I like the aspects of being a millwright

the thing that i like about hd mech is that it seems that you would gain more real world experience for working on trucks, sleds, dirt bikes etc

My cousin is working up in fort crack(that's where Larry works!) doing 2weeks in 1 out which often turns into about 8 in 1 out making $41/hour. He loves it but is getting his HD mech ticket just because he's bored and wants to learn something new. He told me get your millwright first. Since it's easier on the body so if something happens you don't get your second one you can always fall back on it.

Millwright is easier, and the money is comparable, but you don't have to work on track equipment, or trucks! I'm making decent $ as a millwright at Weyerhaeuser, and was making better coin doing gas compression...
HD or millwrights can do Gas Compression...
