Heated grip problem. 2013 XM-X

Ya, I did that..as stated in the original post.

take the grip off and look for any spot that looks burnt. id say just replace the 'element' and be done with it. $25 if I remember correctly

i had the same issue
went through 2 heat elements
first time round did not replace the cork
after the second went after the next ride
took it apart
found a small metal fragment in the cork where it burnt through
the cork, heat element, hand grip
picked out the fragment which was quite small
and have not had any problems sence
look for a fragment where the burn spot in the cork
it causes a short to the handlebars
i could feel it shocking me while i was riding

Thanks for the heated grip info thus far. My 2013 has 2500 km and this is the first grip no heat problem I’ve had.
How can I check what needs replacing? Any advice or help appreciated. It’s just the left grip has quit. Thanks

watch you-tube videos on how to remove wire pins from plugins.
use compressed air in handle bars to remove handle grip.
hair spray to glue handle grip back on
do buy the new cork
