PIAA I have Hid in a lifted truck with two sleds on back 7 out of 10 people i meet bright me.
HID bulbs in the stock headlamp housings? I'm reading up on HID's and I keep seeing peeps say you have to go to a projection lens with HID lights....the light scatters too much and blinds oncoming drivers. I think HID would be awesome in a sled

do not get the piaa super whites they suck big time I had them in my dmax and ripped them out 2 days later cause the light was dimmer than the factory bulbs. vision x and recon make a nice bright bulb. as for hids yeah they work in the stock headlight sockets and work pretty well if you get the right company bfxenon.com lights work well beamers lights are horrible as they have froze up on me on seferal occassions leaving golden and left me sitting in a staging area for an extra hour to unthaw. your best bet would be keep stock bulbs and order up a 10'' or 2 6'' rigid led light bars they work awesome

Piaa bulbs have better light than stock. H 13 bulbs ( 09 f 350) but they don't last first one lasted 9 months was replaced on warranty second bulb lasted 367 days ( 2 days past warranty) not worth the 100 + $ imo

I've been running Sylvania Silver Stars in my Dmax. They do burn out quicker than a normal halogen, but they throw much better light and there's no dicking around. No big deal to carry an extra high and low in the glove box. Can change them on my '06 in 30 seconds.

That could be i never installed them they are hella and the factory pigtails were cut off at install so no going back they light up everything though it's great for me but horrible for other drivers i had a buddy pass me and within a minute called me and asked me to pass him back because the light was to much from the mirrors, in the winter they are great it's like driving in the daylight if i did it again i would have put in silverstars with a good set of off road lites.

Can i ask why u dont want to go HID??

I hate night driving (highway) a vehicle without HID. Thats the first thing I do when I get a new vehicle. My 09 Dmax has HID hi & lo with Halo Projector Headlight lenses. Having the halo projectors does make a difference to how well your hid works (my 06 was stock lenses) but even stock lenses they work well.

BUT as others have said you get flashed. I've got a 4" lift and when i'm hauling the sled trailer not many semis go past without a flash. but IMO i'd rather get the occasional flash and have awesome lighting (near daylight like others said) than not get flashed and have less light.

just my 2cents. Sorry to all those I meet on the highway who curse me out for my lights!

whats the best kind of head light without going to HID???

What kind of vehicle do you drive? There is a few options for Chevy/GM owners that can run a different bulb for JohnDeere equipment that has twice the lumens of the standard oem bulb. Basically the low beam is as bright as the high and the high is stupid bright.

John Deere AH211917 HIR bulbs is the low beam. I don't know the current pricing, last I checked they were under $15 a bulb. Apparently the price has gone up. I have the high beam part number somewhere in my favorites but it is not jumping out at the moment in the thousands of favorites I have.

Do a search on HIR bulbs and Chev/GM trucks and I am sure you will find lots of info on them. If I find the High beam I will post it.

Hmmm, that's a good read. I have to replace a bulb in my little shop truck today, I'll look around red deer, see if I can find a set of these.

check out the link to the HIR bulbs that I posted for teeroy. By no means are these a replacement for HID's, but they are an improvement over oem and most other brands.

teeroy - I last purchased mine at Argo. They didn't stock them last year when I wanted to get some for a buddy. Thats when I found the HIR site. You can also get HIR's on ebay, but I don't know if they are a lesser quality bulbs.
