If you don't have anything else in the box, just put a set of car ramps at the front to get the front up and then your tailgate should close.

You can build a ramp that you drive up that holds the front of the quad up. That way you get a bit more storage in your box to. Any welder can fab you up something easily. Oh I happen to be a welder that would be interested in doing something like that lol!

I bought some nice aluminum risers from rapid revolutions. Bonus is you get extra storage space. Can even fit my 3000 watt Honda gen in box between risers.

When I used to haul my Rhino, I used to just hold the tailgate up with ratchet straps over the top edge of the tailgate and fasten to the pockets in the box rails down to my hitch.

Height adjustable riser with removable ramps. Tons of storage underneath for generator, fuel cans, gear, whatever. I have a brand new one here that works for a quad or sxs I'd sell for $450, no gst.

That's what I did with the sportsman, cheap and easy.
