Not a big difference?! If you worked in a facility you would feel differently.
How would you feel if you worked in the balzac gas plant, or the Bowden refinery .

It has already started in every corner store and gas station most fast food joints and taxi cabs. We are a spoiled province and most are to good for those jobs and welfare is way to easy. You will change your tune when all us mortals are standing in the welfare line because the patch is full of (work for just about nothing wages people).
There was an article about this in the papers a few weeks ago. It's not about "bringing in cheap foreign labor". It's about Canadians who would rather receive gov't benefits as opposed to working in Northern Alberta. The wages are more than fair, but people don't want to work there. Basically, we are inviting cheap foreign labor because people are "too good" to go where the work is. Sad really. I tell ya, if I am out of work....I'll go there before I line up for work at Walmart or 7-11.
Really, they said that they would rather sit at home and live on the pittance that the government hands out than got to work for Ft Mac wages.? Or that is the spin that the people bringing over the cheap labour put on the article. You don't think that these companies would rather have a captive workforce that doesn't really understand the language or their rights and are willing to work for much less than Canadians as opposed to Canadians who will demand fair wages and treatment? There was an article about this in the papers a few weeks ago. And the downward spiral begins!

How about scheduling projects to follow one another and keep a Canadian workforce employed for decades as opposed to happening all at once to create a false labour shortage so they can dilute the workforce with cheap foriegn labour and drive the wages down.
