Reasons for innocence:

Absolutely no blood in bedroom, trailer or garage. Totally destroys the crowns theory she was shot in the head in the garage and neck was cut in the bed, but not a drop of blood. Blood and bloody hair marks in the back of the Rav4 can only be explained by a bloody body transported in the back of the rav4, rever mentioned in crowns theory.

Brandon is completely innocent, I have no doubt of this. He is 16 and very unintelligent. The cops coerced him into that confession and there is absolutely not a single thread of physical evidence that collaborates his story of what happened. His OWN lawyer and investigator were trying to get him to plead guilty, WTF? His investigator started to cry for the victim on the stand, its like he knew her or something?? Total sham of a trial.

Blood vial in cops custody had the tape cut and a needle mark?? WTF.

The one cop LINKS I think was the name, has been all over Stevens paper work dating back to 1985.

The county cops said they were handing over the case to another county to investigate, yet they are involved in every aspect of the case from start to finish???

8 days to search the house and magically the key for the rav4 is found on the 4th or so day, either these cops are completely useless at their jobs to searching or they planted that key.

7 jurors go into deliberation with not guilty against 3 unsure and 3 guilty and somehow come out with a guilty plea? The one juror who had to leave for family reasons, he remains in the show with guilt of what happened and his thought is still not guilty.

Other thoughts, you are in court after having 18 years of your life taken from you, with 36 MILLION dollars on the line, you kill a women in your own yard after everyone knows shes coming there, then you burn the body there, hide the car with a couple branches when there is a car crusher, leave the car key in your bed room and leave your blood in the rav4, yet not a single finger print of his was found in it. Either this is the stupidest person alive, or the unluckiest person alive.

I have no doubt this family is all inbred hicks, these cops hate this family and steven. In court its beyond a reasonable doubt and in my mind, there is way too much doubt for a conviction.

Having said all that, there is still a women murdered, who did it and why is the question and I think where the answers will come from. Did the cops have enough hate for steven to kill this women and set him up, or was it someone else. The fact that he threw that family cat into the fire doesn't sit well with me.

Not sure why anybody, who's been locked up wrongfully for so long, goes and murders someone to end back up in prison. You have to know your going to go back to prison if you murder someone, no ones that freaking stupid. Something's fishy there. Plus the timing of everything is too convenient. Pissed me off a lot watching it. Stay out of Wisconsin is the best fix I guess.

I think one of Stevens brothers are more likely suspects due to their criminal records.
They could have convinced Brendan to confess to the crime easily too.

There are a few possible suspects. The ex boyfriend and room mate, why did they go into her voicemail and delete messages? They knew where she was going to be and that Steven had a history of harassing Theresa while she took pictures of his vehicles.
The brothers have lots to gain if Steven goes to jail. They know he's going to collect a big pay check from the state and get his share of the property.

The cops have the most to gain by Steven going to jail. They are looking at 36 million law suit that insurance won't pay. They were made to look like fools the first time. They had 8 days to plant evidence on Stevens yard. Lots of time to get the vehicle there, burn her body just enough to recognize her.

Steven was no angel it's probably no loss he's in jail, but having Brendan sit in jail for 40 years is very sad.

6 episodes in and so far I feel the same as most of you. I don't think Steven did it because why would he leave all kinds of evidence in his house and property like that? Brendan is mentally challenged, has no idea the consequences(asked if he'd be going back to classes after confessing to murder) and was interrogated multiple times without his mom or lawyer present. From what I've seen so far I don't think the cops would murder her but who knows. That lenk guy being the one to find the bullet and the key after the garage and house were already searched is super suspicious and pretty much sealed it in my mind that the cops are dirty.

I can't say that Steven is not guilty, but I think there is a enough reasonable doubt that he should not have been charged. It seems that evidence was planted, and tampered with.

Funny how the ex-boyfriend wasn't considered a suspect or questioned and couldn't even remember if it was day or night when he last physically seen/talked with Teresa while he was on the stand under oath.
Seemed to me a lot of the people on the stand where story trained & acting big time, especially that chick that found the Rav4....No oscar for her.
Dumbazz crooked f*&k'n cops couldn't even keep their stories & timelines straight.
That Kratz is a slimmy douche too !
Nice to see he had to resigned cause: 'Kratz resigned as District Attorney in 2010 after sending sexually suggestive text messages to a domestic abuse victim.'

Interesting theories here too:

Agree with most.... I do not understand how at least one juror couldnt have seen reasonable doubt in the charges laid, like wtf does it take to actually question authorities?

As for brendan, that poor simple kid got railroaded hard, regardless of his fantasy confession. Shame on the fn authorities for going forward with zero evidence besides the confession and same on the jury for not figuring that out as well.

To me that judges final statements were ridiculous as well, the guy spent most his life in jail for somethin he never did, how the fak could his crimes be getting progressively worse, douche.

On a good note averys lawyers were some seriously intelligent men, very very good at their craft and did everything they could have for that man.
Im sure their retainer fee skyrocketed in recent times.

In closing......Wisconsin is fakked!
Thats My take on what i was shown in the series.

This one write up makes you laugh at the ridiculousness of the whole trial aaand theres not even mention of the countless inconsistencies in the officers testimonies or the reason the manitowac department were even involved in the investigation etc etc.

A guy who is a month or two away from a $36 million dollar check gets impatient waiting for all that money and decides to rape and murder a woman that he telephonically arranges (which she seems un-frightened to see him in her voicemail) to come visit his property in the middle of a weekday in full view of various people coming and going from said property. Once he gets her inside his trailer and commences with said raping, he gets a knock on his door, and answering it, he sees his nephew with the mental capacity of a 9 year old. Rather than saying, "I'm busy", he invites said nephew in to witness, participate in, and eventually confess about all the subsequent rapiness and other crimes that happen. Luckily for him, the nephew does not seem to possess any DNA, since none of it gets anywhere during the entire afternoon and evening.

Later, after much raping, stabbing, cutting, slitting, etc, that happens without any blood loss, the woman is dragged to the garage where she is shot eleven times, again without any blood loss, and also without making any sound. Later that evening, they burn the woman's body a few yards away from where several people live, without the horrifying and distinctive smell caused by a burning body.

At some point during this time, the guy and his nephew drive the woman's car (after first taking some of her bloody hair and drawing pictures with it in the back of the vehicle) to what they think is a perfect hiding spot behind 3 or 4 branches, which is located very close to a large and inconvenient car-crusher. They do this without leaving any fingerprints or the tiniest bit of DNA in the car, except for a lot of smeared blood in very obvious spots.

Three days later the police come asking questions and want to look around inside the trailer. The guy lets them do it, knowing he is safe because all of the raping, stabbing, cutting, slitting, etc, that happened in his carpeted trailer happened without any blood loss. The very next day, this guy leaves for his family's cabin 100 miles away, but decides not to bring the woman's car key, bones, teeth, cell phone, camera, etc. to dispose of far away because he knows he's loved by the Manitowoc police department and they will never suspect him and search his property.

I don't know who killed Teresa but I think the cop who called the tags in and found Teresa in the back of the Rav4 dead. He knew the easiest thing to do was plant it at Averys and pursue him for the murder to get him out of the way. The same cop never filed the reports and seemed to be everywhere at the wrong time. "this is the first time my integrity has ever been questioned"... bull****, he just didn't want to do any actual work. Lenk was the other cop who was there when ALL the evidence was found, and he still couldn't get his story straight! terrible to see over the years, these same cops move up the ladder in Manitowoc. Just heard today on the radio that Steve has asked to appeal again, and that his last request was just denied recently. Crazy to see the power of NETFLIX!

I think the cops planted blood in the RAV4 and obviously the key. in the end it was Steven. How can he say he received the autotrader mag and then didn't hear screaming if it was someone else. Bones were found in the fire and coincidentally he had a big bon fire right after? No way someone let her leave Avery yard that day, killed her 5 miles away, burned the body themselves offsite and then scooped up the ash and dumped it in averys fire.....

Brendon and his mom really screwed themselves. Shoulda lawyered-up immediately.

I thought the same thing about the cop that called in the tags he found the rav4 with the body in it and planted it on the property. I also thought that it might have been the other Dassey boy that went hunting and the only alibi he had was his step dad that seen him on the hi way maybe he did it then he could have dumped the Rav4
