What does it do? Down East they are tracking grooomers for what trails are groomed, when, where, and how far. Better way to see if clubs are really grooming as much as they say they are. Ontario, Quebec for sure all linked into a trails condition website.

Is this something

Sounds like something the A.S.A. could set up. I know our club is contacted a lot on groomed trail conditions. We do post it weekly on the club website.

Why not just put a spot or inReach in the cab and have the tracks available to the public. Tracks are time stamped so you know when and where they have been.

For us volunteers in the West I think $1000.00 setup plus $30.00/ month fee might be overly expensive
in the East they pay their groomer operators so it is an excellent way to see if they are actually out on the trails and at what speed they are grooming at, which all equals a better groomed trail.

Possible Whitecourt or Crows nest clubs with the isolation grooming but I think proper GPS's like the Montana dash/window mounted and a Sat Phone would work better than a Groomer Tracking Service

we we run a Garmin Montana GPS mounted on the window and groom all night - will not leave parking lot without it now!!!
so the GPS tabes care of the trails at night but you need communication also
we have cell coverage for 80% plus have a sled on the drag too

the SPOT or Sat Phone would cover for isolated grooming areas and if people can check their phones you can post on S&M the dates the trails were groomed
Fast easy cheap.

We use Spot's in the groomers for working alone safety. Was just wondering if anyone has tried the Solara system? Our trails are pretty much all old seismic lines or ones we made ourselves. GPS is not really required as we have no open areas other than the odd cut block.

This tracking system or similar system is used to also update conditions as when they were last groomed. Riders key on this and ride there because of the groomed trails. Neet idea but like Brian says a little pricey for Alberta with limited Trailpass Sales.
