It is open and does access the south trail system. Snow is minimal and not enough to groom or fill creeks yet. Snow is a lot better as you go farther west and north. Trails from Whitecourt to Summit cabin are groomed. Check whitecourttrailblazers.ca

I see some people are staging in old gravel pit across from the gun range.

I have suggested this in the past but last year a crew that I know staged there got back to the trucks after dark and all their windows were smashed out and all their stuff stolen from their trucks. just an FYI

Would you suggest a other safer spot kinda in the same area ?

Goat trail can be hard on sled when snow is marginal ....

Quality inn north parking lot? I'd ask at the front desk first though, it is private property.
